Bert_Foster Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 (edited) Am I dreaming ? At one stage in IL2 , I thought in either the Spit MKIX or XIV you were able to couple the Prop lever with the throttle to get governed RPM as a function of Boost.... like auto prop pitch. Historically this was possible in late series aircraft by use of the Override lever, when pulled fully aft coupled the prop lever with the throttle. Edited September 27, 2023 by Bert_Foster 1
357th_KW Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 The Mk XIVe collector version with the bubble canopy has this feature.
LuftManu Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Hello, Yes, the Spitfire XIVe had this feature as KW mentioned. You can also check that on the pilot notes ? Kind regards,
blockheadgreen_ Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 The IX should probably have it! A good memoir "Spitfire Diary" by E.A.W. Smith mentions that its inclusion on the Mk IX was one of the differences between it and the (very unpopular) XVI aside from the engine.
