I've just released a mod package that provides five additional options for the  AI tanks.

So - how does this cool-looking mod work? Are these new objects that mission makers must incorporate into their missions before players will see them, or do they somehow substitute for existing models already present so they just start showing up once you activate the mod?

These are done as new AI vehicles for the Mission builder to use without disturbing the originals and their default textures. It's useful in that it provides more variety in your scenarios. If you don't care to create a whole new mission, you can easily take any existing mission into the mission editor, and swap the originals out for these new ones with literally one click, and then save the mission with a new name so you preserve the original. Just remember that the modified mission will crash when you run it in game if the mod is not currently enabled.

p.s. Now that I've create template files for each of these tanks it's much quicker and easier to create additional variations if someone has a specific request for a particular skin.

TC WW1 - I can hope to see it one day (a detailed WW1 armour simulation)

Not historic but it would be interesting to see someone use some the 20mm gun packages on fighters and try to knock out tanks or that recoilless on the felixtowe. LOL

Btw. If anyone is interested - I did some successful experiments allowing the tanks to shoot back at attacking aircraft - so I could show someone how to make such a mod. Interestingly the Mk.IV was a lot more dangerous than the A7v.

Note that ahistorical: The Albatros J.II, AEG J.II, and the AGO S were all intended to be fixed with oblique downward firing Becker cannons for this purpose. Turret mounted Becker were also intended to be used for this purpose.

Note: The Albatros C.V was also tested with an oblique downward firing cannon. The F.E.2 was also modified to carry cannon for tank-busting purposes, and numerous types carried cannon for light anti-ship/anti-submarine work... so they could've been repurposed if tanks were more common.
