Roshko Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 I'm having issues with my internet these days. When I lose connection, I have to login offline in Il-2. When I do that, there's no career-mode Is it supposed to be like that?
AndyJWest Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Yup, that's how career mode works. The missions are generated on the server, not on your PC. You could consider using Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator as an alternative. This works offline. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/99-pat-wilson-campaign-generator/

You only need to be online to login to the game. Once you're in the main menu, you can disconnect from the internet and fly/generate career missions just fine. Needing to be online when starting the game is just a form of DRM.

See this discussion: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/43971-why-is-career-online-only/ Possibly something has changed since then, but I don't recall seeing any comments on it.

I'm 100% sure the missions are generated client-side, and all career data is stored client-side as well. However, I just tested it, and there does appear to be some truth to the needing to be online part. I created a new career and started the first mission. Upon starting the mission, I did get a "Master Server Response Timeout" error, however I could just click "OK" and it disappeared. The mission completed successfully, it registered, and I was able to proceed.
