Mysticpuma Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 The BBC report on the Metaverse. The financial losses are staggering! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-66913551
dburne Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 I think Meta was about 10-15 years to soon on this Metaverse stuff. Form factor of headsets still way too large for it to get that kind of mass acceptance for living partly in a virtual world.
Gunfreak Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 For 99% of vr users, a vr headset is a gaming accessory. Not a social play thing. And for those that want social vr, you have vrchat. Nobody wants to buy groceries in vr, or go to a vr mall. People don't like real malls, they definitely don't want virtual ones either. And people are already tired of the billionaire class trying to get us to buy useless stuff, while also making sure nobody makes enough money to survive.
Dagwoodyt Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Meta can “brick” your hmd in a heartbeat and could care less. Good luck with Customer Support ?
