TFS' progression

"Tobruk" brought 8 new flyable types (Bf 108, CR.42, C.202, D.520, P-40, Gladiator, Martlet, Wellington)

"Dieppe" will bring 4 new flyable types (Fw 190, P-51, B-17, Typhoon)

Comparing the next add-on with the previous one... makes one think about TFS's progression: half the number of new types for twice the level of detail each:

Don't you agree?

Remember though that some of those aircraft were already in the game as AI controlled aircraft. The exterior models were already complete, and some of the flight modelling would already have been completely done too.

These were previously AI, and made flyable for the TF5 release: Bf 108, CR.42, Gladiator, Wellington

Yep, I know, but in 2020 Tobruk allowed us to fly 8 different types for the first time each in this game. That was my point. And I still think that the level of detail is getting higher as time goes by...

Is this you saying you were wrong when practically guaranteeing lots of forthcoming planes?

Im afraid that I dont. The original models were highly detailed. Some of the tobruk models were not quite as polished but still very good. Some were equal. Progress has been made on the DM and systems and now with the higher res models but its not twice as good nor does it need to be.

Im happy with whats being planned though I think the B17 is something of a necessary enticer that will become a novelty for most.

Im more interesred in what the world will look like. Thats how i will guage progress as I do in every sim I plkay. New map or rehashed map with new tech, same area or different area. THe new aircraft will be nice but if im flying over the old map I may be less enthused.

Honestly lots of the Tobruk planes are not comparable with the original (patched by TF) planes, especially in terms of FM imho.

So I rather prefer less aircraft but carefully done and tested.

Only 4 new models? You miscalculated, it's as if you said that in the first part of CoD there are only Bf 109, Spitfire and Hurricane, but after all they were different versions (e.g. Bf 109 E-1, E-3, E-4) and in the allied more types of fighters too. Fw 190 are three different designations and the first A-1 already differs in armament unlike the other two versions A-2 and A-3, you forgot the new Bf 109 G-2, other new versions Bf 110 F-1 and F- 2, (note here, for example, I missed the Bf 110 D and E in Africa) Ju-88 A-4, Ju-88 C-6 (better night fighter or heavy fighter), etc. of course the main differences are in armament, performance or even in minor changes in shape, etc. But they are different types of new aircraft ...

Focke-Wulf 190A-1

Focke-Wulf 190A-2

Focke-Wulf 190A-3

Messerschmitt Bf-109G-2

Messerschmitt Bf-110F-1

Messerschmitt Bf-110F-2

Junkers Ju-88C-6

Junkers Ju-88A-4

Spitfire Mk VC

Spitfire Mk VC 'Clipped Wing'

Spitfire Mk IXA

P-51A-83

P-51A-91

B-17E

Wellington III

Beaufighter VIC

Typhoon Mk IA

Typhoon Mk IB

Dear Buffo, let's so count the number of flyable items in each game. What I do call an "item" is what really appears as a flyable item in the lists of the game's mission builder, this is: one subvariant that belongs to one variant that belongs to one type. Well, if so, then this is what the count unveils:

"Blitz" = 47 flyables (48 if we include the Sukhoi Su-26)

"Tobruk" = 47 flyables

"Dieppe" (as announced at the moment) = 18 flyables

Of these 18 new aircraft that will be flyable in "Dieppe", 4 are new models in the game, regardless of the variants or sub-variants included in each of them. I mentioned that as a matter of fact... so, I'm not contemptuous of the new variants that we'll have even if belonging to already existing types in the game. On the contrary, for example I really think that the 109 G2 is excellent news and will be a fantastic feature in the series, sure.
