Low hanging collector plane fruits for Il-2 GB series

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

any chance we could get some official word on the propability whether or not some gaps in the existing career module plane lineups will or will not be filled with collector planes until the next big thing is released in 2025/26 ?

In particular:

Fw-190-A7 (BoN)

Fw-190-A9 (BoBP)

Fw-190-D11 (BoBP)

Fw-190-D13 (BoBP)

Bf-109-G10 (BoBP)

Bf-109-G14/AS late (BoBP)

Ju-87-D5/G2 (BoS, BoK, BoBP)

Ju-87-B2/R2 (BoM)

Yak-7B bubble top (BoS)

Yak-1 early (BoM)

LaGG-3 early (BoM)

LaGG-3 late (66 series) (BoK)

Mustang-Mk.IA (BoN and BoBP)

Spitfire Mk.VB clipped wings and Merlin 45M (BoN)

Spitfire Mk. VI and VII

There are certainly more "low hanging fruits", but those are the ones I would consider "doable" without beginning from scratch.

Thanks for consideration!

To me the most interesting options here are the LaGG-3 (early) (5 guns in the nose!) and the Ju 87 B, which is such a conspicuous early omission. An early Mustang would also be interesting if it were made without the dreaded Allison engine timers.

The first 6 are mind-numbingly boring

Agreed. An Allison Mustang with new timers, and retroactively fixed P-39 and P-40 timers too would be so great.

I would add the late Lagg-3 (66th Series) to the list. It's really missing for the Kuban map. In the second half of 1943 it was the most numerous type in the Kuban area. Instead of it we have to use the mid 1942 version of the Lagg-3 that was slower and heavier.

I would also suggest to add motor modifications for some existing aircraft. Bf-109 E-7 and Bf-110 E-2 would often use the DB 601 N/P in 1941/1942 instead of the DB 601 A/B we have in the game.

And of course we need floats for the Ju-52. As far as I know they could be fitted to all versions of the Ju-52.

That would be fun and a bit more novel than just doing more variants, similar to the Waco glider that's coming up.

That are good ideas!
I'm in for Early allison Mustangs, Bf 110F and some late LaGGs ? (Don't forget a beautiful Beaufighter!)

Kind regards,

Would love to see that myself, but if I understood them correctly, if at all, they only will do modifications of already existing airframes.

A later P-40 version with higher boost allowance and automatic boost control would certainly be welcomed by many.
