I'm sorry to say this, and I'm sorry for the language. The friendly AI, especially the wingmen AI in the pilot career is broken. It's still completely broken and useless making the pilot career unplayable. About a month and a half, maybe 2 months ago I made a giant post with all the AI flaws that have been burning me out of the sim. It was locked by the mods and I asked that it be deleted as I was very hot-headed, with multiple ruined missions by the frankly broken, inhumanly pathetic blind AI as well as many other problems of the pilot career, when I made that post. I said I would make a revised, more adult and civil post, but I was frankly burned out by everything and ended up finding and playing scripted campaigns after that. Yesterday, after the update, I played a few cover missions (ground/river cover) and everything seemed to be improved. My wingmen in fact were almost a machine, very deadly and probably unrealistic in their performance (I-16s vs 109s certainly didn't do what they did in real life). Today I've been trying to complete a ground attack mission, in Stalingrad, without my whole flight getting massacred. The issues that have plagued this are still there. The wingmen are still completely unreactive, blind, listless when we get bounced by the interceptors. They are still floating around at 200km/h, over enemy territory, after just having bombed, so with the knowledge of very probable air defences around, with their wingmen exploding in fireballs right in front of their faces. As if there's still some part of the code that makes them think they are WW1 biplanes, not WW2 monoplanes. It doesn't matter if I give the 'attack air targets', or 'patrol for air targets' or don't give a command at all to see what happens. More than half my squad enters the 'floating around aimlessly at 200kmh right over enemy air defences that they just bombed' mode. The enemy interceptors are still starting right at the same time as my flight, and I imagine they are probably still the magic guidance gps/radar/laser interceptors that are able to home in on us no matter were we go, even if we fly at low alt with completely deviated routes over friendly territory. The radio commands are still incredibly limited. 'Attack/Patrol air targets' still does nothing. I still can't order the wingmen that sometimes don't drop their bombs/rockets to ditch them to better fight the bouncers or return home without dragging them. I seem to remember that more than 1 year ago when I gave the 'attack air targets' command they would do this. At least in the advanced quick missions they would do this. Maybe I'm wrong, but no matter what they did they don't do it anymore. I point the squadron in the direction of the coming bouncers. I give the command. I fire a red flare. We merge front to front. It doesnt matter. Zombies all around me. The techno-chat is still disapering when a certain wingman gets killed, probably the highest ranking one, even when I'm the leader. I'm letting my temper speak here in this post, and I'll try to make a more measured post about all the flaws this weekend. But honestly just this last mission and I'm already completely burned out, tired of the same thing over and over that is simply ignored. I imagine that most flaws in wingmen behavior in fighter bomber missions or their unreactive listless nature when attacked in cruising formation to and from a mission objective, or many other issues I and other players have been demonstrating with tracks and mission files are still here. 1

It's like the campaign experience, but with real humans who can communicate and react sensibly. I know that doesn't really solve your problem... but if the time-zones work, maybe come join us? 2

Thanks for the invitation, I bought the pieces to build a free-track hat many months ago and still haven't built it ?. When I do it I'll try again in MP, when I tried without a track hat I was completely blind as all servers I tried don't allow for padlock. Yeah, I've decided, I'll build this thing this weekend and get massacred by the LW drivers instead of blaming the AI.?
