Does anyone know of any hints 'n' tips on flying the LI2.

Any special instructions with loadouts etc?

Thanks.

Be sure there is an in flight movie, as it takes forever to get to your destination.

Actually, I've found it to be faster than I expected; probably since you can open/close cargo your doors in-flight for better aerodynamics.*

* Mind you, it's still a pretty slow bird compared to all the other WW2 planes, except perhaps the U2-VS, Tante Ju and He-111.

Engines are garbage and overheat immediately, so be gentle and don't use 100% fuel. Those engines can't handle the weight.

Honestly, I've thought of suggesting that any disputes among forum members be settled by duels ...using a pair of Li-2.

I can switch the radio channel between allied/axis. But I can’t see any movement in the cockpit if I do. Am I blind or is there no?

The radio controls for communication between airplanes and ground stations are back behind the flight deck, out of sight. The ones above the windscreen are for radio direction-finding.

As far as I know, the radio direction finding equipment works the same as it does in the Pe-2.

I think so, so somewhere between 0.8 and 0.9 is optimal. The tech notes do say mixture is automatic at 100 percent but that you can improve fuel economy even further by leaning.
