SR_Warrior Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 I saw this vidio on youtube but still i have problem with take off .. I dont know why still engine overheating and enigine damaged.. If i change engine management i dont have enought speed to take off ... Really it is first plane what i cannot fly with it ...Can someone help me please???

And i am repeat my old post from ru-forum: "Yes, compared to the C-47 power deficit is felt. In general, according to the pilot manual (for example, of a post-war aircraft, that is, even without turrets and other military equipment) - takeoff and climb occur approximately like this - engines in takeoff mode, takeoff and liftoff, landing gear retraction, after climbing 8...12 meters - engines to nominal and acceleration to 160 km/h at this altitude, then go into climb, and climb at a speed of about 185 km/h, if possible, in cruising mode. At the same time, with a weight of 10,700 kg - and this is not the maximum takeoff weight - in cruising mode, climbing a kilometer will take about 8 minutes, that is, the vertical speed is only about 1.5 m/s. At nominal it is more vigorous, about 4 m/s. That is, we fly smoothly, climb slowly, do not bring the engines to increased modes, especially in the summer - they heat up." "The engine itself can work 5 minutes at takeoff RPM and MAP - if it has sufficient cooling. And after take-off there is little cooling, since the speed is low. The real pilot manual, by the way, prescribes to turn off the takeoff mode almost immediately after lifting off and retracting the landing gears. And if possible, it is recommended to climb in cruising mode, and not even at nominal. You can also see more about overheating of engines in the section on flying on one engine from pilot manual. In this case, it is recommended to set the nominal mode, but at the same time - there is a warning that at an outside air temperature of +20 and a speed of about 200 km/h (this is for a post-war aircraft with a feathering propeller, and weight of 10700kg, without a feather the speed drops by 20-30 km / h) - the engine at the nominal value has a tendency to overheat ("the temperature of the heads quickly reaches the maximum permissible value with a tendency to further growth." What can we say about takeoff, at a significantly lower speed ... So in the summer, flights on the Li-2 have some difficulties in terms of thermal conditions. And on one engine, the aircraft flies very reluctantly, and only not with a full load ... By the way, the pilot manual has a separate section on takeoff at a temperature of 20-25 near the ground."
