Inertial/non-camera based headtracking in 2023

Is there any inertial head tracking device available on the market today that's plug and play? EDtracker is gone, trackIMU seems to be gone as well (cant place orders, they dont answer emails or any communication attempts). Ive tried scouring the internet for one but all i get from google is flippin spy devices/gps trackers. Im traumatised by the amount of times my tracking cut mid combat with camera based solutions

Without further information I have made some assumptions in making the following suggestions... Hopefully it's still useful.

I use opentrack, with 3 IR LEDs and a PS3 eye cam and it doesn't lose track unless I block an LED.

What system do you use? I'd start by checking why it is losing track. It's not magic and if you find the reason for the loss of tracking you might be able to prevent it. Common causes are spots of light coming from windows, or reflections of any shiny objects in view of the camera.

Try looking at the image coming from the camera, and check what might be causing bright spots in the image, or perhaps hiding your reflectors or LEDs.

If you only lose track during dogfights, try leaning forward and see what the tracker does - sometimes people lean forward when excited, which may prevent the camera from seeing your tracking dots.

If you are using track IR with an LEDs clip, I think (but do not know for sure) you can also download opentrack and see if it is any better when using the tracki IR camera. If I block an LED (say when I'm drinking out of a cup) opentrack just resumes tracking at the correct position with no fuss. If trackIR doesn't do this, then switch to opentrack.

A dodgy USB connection might also be causing your problem.

You can’t go wrong with TrackIR. Yes it might cost something but it’s easy to set up and trouble free compared to the DIY solutions. If you’re in a brightly lit room the LED Track Clip Pro is rather bullet proof. But the simple clip also works fine if you can control your lighting. I’ve only ever needed the simple reflector clip
