Any experience/success with vJoy to use race pedals as rudders?

I found a YT video; guy adapted racing pedals to be mapped to rudder axes using vJoy and UCR(?) for use with MSFS2020.  I used those programs and and setup a Profile and controllers show to be working.  It creates a "new device" - vJoy1.  However, I have not gotten it to work with IL2 yet.

Anyone with experience here?  Thank you!!

hi

I use an old MS sidewinder wheel and pedals (the wheel has to be connected but i just use the pedals for rudder).  I use joystick gremlin to combine the 2 separate axes into one.  Its not the most intuitive to set up but it works great.  A tip for getting il-2 to recognise the axis is to use Hid-Hide.  You can use it to hide the separate axes so il2 only recognises the vjoy axis.   See how you get on and let me know if you get stuck :)

Thank you. Where is is Hid- Hide? Is that in vjoy (or gremlin), or in the il2 settings?

Appreciate the help.

Having rudder is going to be a game changer I think.

Hi

Hid-hide is a separate program that you can get for free.  You only need to run it when you're assigning the vjoy axis in il2.  It basically stops il2 from seeing the non vjoy axes.  Hope this makes sense.

gosh, I just can't get this to work....  I'm using Joystick Gremlin + vJoy + Hid Hide.  I've watched videos, really seems like I've got it set correctly.  But the IL2 game will not recognize the virtual device and the merged Z-axis I created.  ugh.

Appreciate if you have any deeper guidance.  Thanks.

Hi.  Will take a closer look at the joystick gremlin tomorrow and give you some notes on what I did.  It was a while ago that I set it up (still working fine) so want to make sure I give correct instruction.

A couple of quick things to check though.  Are you pressing activate in joystick gremlin?  Check usb game controllers in Windows and see if the virtual controller is functioning as it should.
