So if I fly with high settings, open xr I get decent 60fps.

If I fly with ultra settings steam vr and foveated rendering going. I get some 55-65fps. But I get this tiny stuttering effect. By going from msaa to fxaa, I jump 20fps up to around 80. Still kinda get this stuttering effect.

I have an i7 13700k, 3090, 64gig ram.

Changing steam vr resolution from 3716x4396  to something I can't remember×4028  did very little for the FPS.

We’ve been discussing Crystal settings in this thread, which you might find helpful if you didn’t notice it before:

I saw that one, but it's all about Pimax, open xr and SteamVR settings. I'm asking about IL2 settings.

Given the Crystal's resolution, do you need FXAA at all? Does turning it off get you closer to 90fps..?

Here are my settings with my Pimax Crystal:

4graphicsscreenforpimaxcrystal4090.thumb.jpg.828335a6fcbe79b001c4867845d43255.jpg

PimaxClient at 1.0 render, SteamSS set to 80% in the General and Video tabs of SteamVR, indicating a resolution per eye of 3856 x 4560. However, SteamVR further set to 87% in my "Per-Application Video Settings" for IL-2, so 3596 x 4256 per eye.

When using 90 Hz mode and no DFR, that allows me to keep my FPS in the upper 80s or at 90 in both MP and in a Quick Mission with 8 fighters and 8 two-engine attackers over Kuban. My GPU frametimes stay in the low 8 ms, CPU low 7 ms, and this has been the smoothest experience amongst my tests.

Yep, even with my Reverb G2 and a 3090 I was running with no AA, and I also don’t run AA in the Crystal and a 4090.

Tried to replicate and my FPS was more on the high 70s low 80s until all the planes were shot down than it went 90s. 7800x3d with 4090. Not sure what other magic you have to make it work.

I don’t know if this makes a difference but I run an i7 13700k

May I ask what are your computer specs to ran this config and the average fps you get?

i9 13900KS (the 8 P-core runs at 5.9Ghz with il-2 in VR in use bill2's priority hight, 6ghz with a 2560x1440 screen ) and Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame, Asus Z790 Apex, 2x16G DDR5 8000Mhz V-Color, 4090 Inno3D frostbite ultra, SSD Kingston FURY Renegade 2To, Asus Rog thor 1200w.

Full tower case Thermaltake Core X71.

Watercooling custom, pump D5 top EK rev2.0, Wtb EK-Quantum Magnitude Full Nickel, 3 radiators alphacool hight flow and Fan Corsair ML, Wtb supplementary backplate 4090 made by MP5Works.

With these settings for il-2 i am 99% GPU usage for 420W of power and CPU and when to him in 130/150w for 50/55% usage.

Yes, that seems to be a powerhouse! Just googled the bill2 program and using it now. Seems to work rather well..

May i ask if it works as well for Intel and AMD? Could you share the type of configuration you apply to IL2? Googling it, I found only discussion for the server side.

Many thanks in advance,

y.

I just have it setup now to automatically change the cpu priorty on certain applications. I havent used the cpu affinity or other settings yet, but it appears to work well so far on my AMD cpu..

Thanks for your answer.

I understand you configure a rule to put high priority for IL2, or other programs as well related to VR?

Did it shows some improvement?

Thanks again

I cant say it has helped in regards to any FPS type of gain, but I believe it has helped somewhat in keeping stutters down some. I encounter stutters while under the frametime limit at times when there are numerous AI/Mulitplayer activity occuring. I belive this is occurs due to the CPU working beyond its limits during those period of times, may be wrong though..

For stutter, I use ISLC, Intelligent Standby List Cleaner, as per the recommendation of another thread, and it really works great.
