Not sure what I did. Saw a flashing light on my keyboard. Tried to switch off and ended up selecting QUICK VIEW SAVED. So my view was a lot closer to the gun site. How do you delete a saved quick view?

Anyway long story short I ended up deleting all my key binding combinations!!

Well I guess things happen for a reason. I'm one of these people with one decent joy stick - LOGITECH Extreme 3D Pro (I have trashed a few over the years playing Sturmovik LOL) and everything else done via the keyboard.

Anyway so now I'm thinking why not buy some rudder pedals and maybe an extra controller so I'm not trying to hit so many keyboard key combinations whilst flying.

Anyone using rudder pedals and if so any particular make you can recommend?

cheers,

Ken

VKB T-Rudder pedals are the ones I've got. For the price they're second to none. Only (potential) drawback is that they don't have toebrakes. I manage and have done for some time but to others it seems that it's a bit of a deal-breaker. They're all-metal construction and very solid though.

I think Crosswinds are the most popular mid-priced solution. I have them and they're great. For lower priced solutions, Saitek and CH are the names I hear most about.

Based on your current setup, I'm gonna guess you're on a budget. All the pedals mentioned above are €200-300. I use T.16000M pedals, which cost less than half of that. Sure, they may not be as good or as well balanced as the others, but after applying some WD40 and loosening a couple of screws, they move smoothly. Definitely worth the price, IMO.

Even better, buy a complete T.16000M stick+throttle+pedals combination. About the same price together as any of the single pedals mentioned above, while the stick is a big upgrade from your current one* and the total setup should give you some 40-ish extra buttons and axes you can use.

Easiest is just to re-save the view. Move to the position you like your head to be, then press F10 to save.

* I used (and occasionally still use) the Extreme 3D pro as well. The T.16000M is much more accurate and is much lighter to the touch. Great upgrade!

Yep same here - damper kit is great.

Same fior the MFGs.  They are expensive though, but of all of the peripherals you might want, decent pedals are the the ones with the most longevity so buy good and buy once.

saitek proflight (or called now Logitech) are reasonable priced and good, and have L-R toe breaks.

I have the Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder pedals. I had a couple of sets of the CH pedals before that and the Saitek are way better. The only issue is that you really need a stand for them at about a 30 degree angle for them to work right and not slide on the floor. I don't think they are made any more, but the current plastic Logitec pedals seem to have most of the same features.

Yes, Logitech bought the Saitek brand from Mad Catz in 2016.

Theirs an easier way to fix this lol I trust you know what it is now?

I have VKB pedals

For rudder control I went from T16 twist 0/10 - was using stick and mouse for headtracking and mouse wheel for throttle control
To T16 throttle paddle 9/10 - if you want extra buttons this isn't a bad idea - personally kind meh on the throttle and throttles in general but the paddle was decent for rudder control
to VKB pedals 11/10

Personally if I could start my flight Sim hardware journey again
I would have brought pedals after my stick
And I wish I brought the VKB glad stick

Currently taking a break from flying but when I return I think I'm going to go back to left hand stick right hand mouse with peddles

Pedals >> headtracking or throttle

Also I made a post on how new keyboards now support binding a key to an analogue axis

Received mine in 2016 or 2017 and still going strong. Crosswinds are High quality and since they include independent toe brakes are, in my experience, one of the best if not the best rudder pedals available. Saitek's rudder pedals are the only other pedals that I own and there is just no comparison. I am sure some of the other high end pedals are good, but once having used Crosswinds I have seen no reason to look further. If my Crosswinds broke today I would order  new Crosswinds without hesitation because of the quality and Milan's great service. Love the dampener upgrade as well along with software resolution upgrade Milan introduced a few years back. Push come to shove, you will find yourself on your backside because your not going to take my Crosswinds from me! :acute:

Hello to all!

i am a happy siatek rudder pedal owner, i am quite satisfied with my rudder pedals except they have a little "play" in the middle, thats why i fly with dead zone center at about 44% and sensitivity at about 38% at il2 yaw axes settings...is that normal?

Buying crosswind rudder pedals will solve this problem or not? Is there any reason  to spend about 400 euros (Europe) for crosswind rudder pedals and get rid of saitek pedals...will it make you better in a dogfight situation? ( of course i know skill is the most important factor), do crosswind pedals offer zero center play?

thank you!

Yes, I had the same centering problems with the detent and had to run a dead zone also with my Saiteks. Just think about it, you have to run a dead zone in the center of rudder travel, the exact area where you most need precision to line up A2A shots and A2G target alignment. Saiteks work, as I said I still have some gathering dust in the closet, but Crosswinds have no center detent and they are as precise from the center to their extreme throw either right or left(2048 resolution if I remember correctly). If you are a serious simmer, do a lot of flight simming and intend to into the future and can afford them, then order Crosswinds and you will see what the fuss is all about. You might want to consider purchasing the damper and the optional cam profiles but the original cam was good for me. Again, I am not bashing Saitek pedals, they work, but other than that there is no comparison between the two. Hope this helps.

The MFG's are great pedals, but I do have issues with mine - mainly toe brakes sticking on and calibration troubles.

If you fly ww1, then I would definately recommend them, or other high precision pedals.

If all you fly is ww2 I'd question the benefit.

I had serial port Simped rudder pedals somewhere ~2000+, they were best there were, but sadly you could not connect those when serial ports developed. For 15 years about I have had several Saiteks, CH pedals etc I was always yearning for those times with Simpeds... Until I bought MFG Crosswinds! They are probably the best investment I've done for flight sims.

However those hydraulic dampers did not work for me. Flew about a month with them and then disassembled those

I'm very happy with my TM TPR.

Have no experience with other pedals so can't really say how they compare but they feel very precise and solid to me. I also like the pendular movement of this design.

Only downside is that they are quite expensive!

If you haven't tried - I've found it benefits them to occasionally put some machine oil in the springs and pivot points, and to clean them up if they've gotten debris in them over time. My toe brakes got squeaky and uneven until I gave them a good cleaning and lubrication recently.

I had some issues in the past with mind, but I got down and blew out the connectors and cable ends and haven't had any issues since.  That's after they sat and work for six years.  Now they work like new again.

I will have to say my Crosswinds have been perfect ever since getting them in Dec 2015. No glitches, nothing. And I have not done any real maintenance on them, just use them almost daily. Only real thing I have done to them is when I added the damper.

Never had any calibration issues and the only way I could see Crosswinds sticking is if you had the damper, if you use it, to tight or if you had disassembled your Crosswinds and then tighten the bolts that hold the factory sealed roller bearings to tight. Yours are the first problems/complaint I have ever seen posted on any forum since 2017.

As far as not needing precision with WW II kites, I have to disagree with you there. WW II planes are much faster and having precision rudder pedals along with a precision stick are quite necessary for lining up your shot and even doing A2G. To each his own but I want the most precise hotas that I can get without spending overly stupid money.

Thanks for the input Blade.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone report problems either, so maybe something I've done at some point.

They're not physically sticking, it's a software or data transfer problem.

Currently the left pedal is giving problems - sticks at 100% in the software and shows no movement when I try to recalibrate.. well that was yesterday at least !

Just tried again and the left pedal is now going from 0% to flickering around 70% after cali.

Anyway, I'll not de-rail the thread any further with this problem.

Well I finally got my rudder pedals. I went with Logitech for about $250 Canadian. Bit weird getting used to them having used the Extreme  3D Pro Joystick for the yaw movement. Also incorporating the toe braking as well when I have been used to using the keyboard for breaking. And with the Spit (always my plane of choice) it does that thing of veering as you slow the aircraft down on landing. I just need to practice. Plus I need to anchor them better plus my office chair moves     ?. But I'm glad I got them!
