Roshko Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I simply can't believe it. There is no way to turn down the wingman chatter? I've just been in a huge AI dogfight, and they are talking ALL the time ... not some of the time, not most of the time - ALL the time. In a furball with at least 7 or 8 planes on each side, you really don't need to hear "Attakoi, Istrebitel" every time one of your wingies spots a gerrie. Is there any unofficial way to kill it - because oddly enough, there does not seem to be an ingame way of doing it? 1
Charlo-VRde Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 One workaround is to go into \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\Audio\radio\ and add a minus (-) character to the start of the names of the folders with languages you don’t understand. You then won’t hear them anymore, though the chat will still tell you what is said, translated into the language you set for yourself. Remember to undo that before you update the game, though. You can also go into those folders and start deleting what you don't want to hear anymore. Or you can simply delete the "radio" folder or place a minus character in its name so the game doesn't recognize it - until the next update. 1 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 There's radio volume control bindings, increase and decrease, you only need one bound. I put them on an excess switch, when hearing them hit the volume decrease, and gone. It used to be bugged so volume control only worked about half the time, but its pretty much fixed for me. Even in multiplayer it's annoying since the game sees every other player as an AI on your side, so every time they're hit or shot up their AI side incessantly whines. 1 1
JG27*PapaFly Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I hear you, AI radio chatter was a major frustration for me, too. For a while, I've turned down the volume. The problem with that was that I had to do it on every sortie. Then, someone here showed me that deleting or renaming following folder is a more permanent solution: \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\Audio\radio\ Now I only have to delete the folder after a game update. 1
Roshko Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 Thanks guys, I'll check out your suggestions tonight - I'll start with turning down the volume on each sortie. If that gets too annoying, I'll nuke the files ... Phew - I thought that furballs was genuinely ruined by something as silly as this <wipes-sweat-of-forehead>
Noisemaker Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 (edited) I only ever get bothered by it when "Roughman 5, target destroyed" gets played on a loop for half an hour... Edited September 10, 2023 by Noisemaker Wrong call sign. 2
JG27*PapaFly Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 (edited) Being German, I cringe every time I hear any of the German chatter. Edited September 11, 2023 by JG27*PapaFly 1

Youtch Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 What we be good is if the volume of chatter is remember from one game to another or controller through startup.cfg 1

I've been listening to that annoying jibberish for over 4 years and overlooked the settings. My dog also thanks you. Edited September 29, 2023 by DocDocbruno
