Recommended update level?

Hey guys,

I have searched the forum, but coming up with limited info that criss-crosses all over the place.

I have been on and of IL-2 1946 via steam for some time now. I always prefer original titles where I can and just found my original (one of a few over the years) IL-2 FB+AEP+PF+1946 and loaded it onto my computer. It is vanilla at 4.11.1 and so I am wondering the following:

1. What is the current update version?
2. What is the recommended / best update version?
3. What is the best online update version?
4. What is the best setup now to get OpenXR VR working? I have had VR working on the steam version a while ago.
5. What are any other recommendations to get back into the community on a part time basis?
