The plane is not a D5a, apparently, is an early D5, of Jasta 4 captured by the RFC.

The picture is obviously retouched with the crosses...but still on the upper wing (starboard) the aileron control chute is clearly visible.

It says though that the engine is a Mercedes 160 H.P. which corresponds to an early D5.

Also check the installed pitot tube (for the testing) on the port V strut...

it is the same plane as of my attached pictures (D.1162/17, captured G56).
