DFLion Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 DFLion_The Big Show_’Tussle in the Stratosphere’ Another interesting mission from ‘The Big Show’. This particular mission was well documented in many books, though Pierre Clostermann hardly got a mention. We have got the Spitfire IXe in the game which can be upgraded with a Merlin 70 engine with a 2 stage supercharger. Some Spitfire VII’s were converted for high altitude interceptors with Merlin 72 engines, pressurized cockpits, extended wing tips and retractable tail wheels – this was the aircraft that Clostermann flew in the mission along with Flt.Lt. Ian Blair. I have used the Kuban map in this mission to represent the Orkney Islands. You will need Tom Weiss’s skin ‘raf 4 sqn pl 983c by tom weiss’ for the Spitfires. I am going to ask ‘E69_julian57’ to kindly make me the correct Spitfire and Messerschmitt skins for Ver.2 of the mission. Please read the mission description once you start the game and hopefully you will be ‘enveloped’ into this challenging mission. DFLion DF_The Big Show_'Tussle in the Stratosphere'.zip 3 2 1

Ulricus Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 (edited) Many thanks for making this Clostermann story now playable. Edited April 10, 2024 by Ulricus
kissTheSky Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 This was a great scripted campaign for the IL-1946. Good that it’s being ported in a sense.
francop Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Je rêverai d'une campagne avec toute les missions de Clostermann. Ce serait fabuleux. 1
Herodotus Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Another excellent mission from a well known flier. Would love to see Kiwi Desmond Scott's works in the future. The youngest Group Captain who flew Hurricanes in the BoB, and then converted to Typhoons in the lead up to D-Day, and the fighting in Normandy, his books are a great read.
