Judging from my past IL-2 beta testing experiences, I would say that they've probably got quite a bit done already if we're already writing unit descriptions.

I mean, at the very least you'd need the planes, the map, and of course what units you're going to make playable to even begin with that.

So on the bright side, when they finally announce it, there'll actually be stuff to show instead of just speculation of what everything could look like. ?

- Our western audience want Pacific, but our eastern players want Eastern front, what should we do next?

- Why not both?

?

That would be very cool and I hope it's done at some point, Late war IJAAF vs late war VVS would be fun.

They announced a community made map (I think DD342?) and my bet is that Karelia is the one.

There was a big thread of a group of Finnish ppl building it on their own and then it all went very quiet when they had some sort of agreement with the team.

I don't think Karelia is the next official location.

A Leningrad map is the biggest thing currently missing from the Eastern Front, I reckon and it is more possible now than ever befoe as they have developed large map capacitly with Normandy and with it also being a plane type intensive map, they already have many done.

After that it's hard to say what would be worhty of marking the 10 year aniversary...Berlin possibly???

What's left on the Eastern front after Manchuria, Leningrad & Berlin?

I'd like to see Murmansk, convoys, torpedo planes, Fjords etc......
We already have a good slice of the plane set (with a few modifications) and a few we haven't......

Go West Young Man!  (Or East depending on where you live)  In the long run I think it's got to be the Pacific.  Why?  Because the developers depend on revenue from making aircraft models.  A new Battle of ______ would be a map and campaign but that's a one time purchase.  They need a new line up of aircraft to build and market.  They deny it but that's so that you stop bugging them with questions and demands for progress updates.

Much as I'd like to see the PTO in the Battle of corral, I reckon that horse has already bolted, same jockey, different stable ;)

It would be nice to hunt German convoys in the fjords in Norway. Or Allied convoys in arctic. There were even us carrier operations. A lot of interesting ww2 aviation was going on. And Norway was the only place Luftwaffe manage air superiority almost to the end.
There was dogfighting between fw190 and P 51.

Ya know could be that is why 1CGS is being so secretive about what they are doing. Rather than come out swinging with developing a direct competitor to that theatre they keep it under wraps. Could be.

I will believe there is something new coming only when I will see it. By the way this is their communication policy. Until then we speculate. Seeing how things stand, I am not sure they can get enough financing to launch a completely new game (I mean of the WWII period ) on a totally new and recent graphic engine.

Wow!  That would change my whole logic.  Jason must have a reverse non-compete with the devs and has the rights to the Pacific sim.  That would explain them not going there.  Now I'm back to spit balling.

I'm not sure what, but if you read into who is behind this new combat flight sim you will find other links like this one https://entropy.aero/

Much as that never had a great appeal for me in the past as the focus tended to be on the Mig 15 & Sabre, (which is ok, but gets old quick), I'm hopeful that a Battle of scenario incorporating Korea would dig deeper and therefore have more appeal.

If they really do Korea I would hope for not just high end prop planes, but also lower end early jets like the F-80 & F-84 and cross my fingers for some Navy stuff like the F9F Panther and the Hawker Sea Fury etc.

If it's just a Mig alley redux with a few F-51's and a late model Corsair it'll be pretty bland from my pov whan balamced against a possible Manchuria '45, Burma or late WW2 eastern front where the late war Soviet machines like the Yak-3, La-7 etc., make an appearance.
