deathmisser Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 (edited) So I had more than half a year thinking about the next module so here are my thoughts. With the list I've made ages ago and added a bit of spices I think my ' next what if the next module is'. And here it is the 'Battle of Jerusalem' or just in normal term the Israeli war of independence. This ticks all the boxes of my list, A. Swimming pilots = It's has water ! B. No carries = This war didn't use carries C. Needs lot of recourses = I guess it's does D. It's not Italy = speaks for it self lol E. It's something new = A desert map + strange aircraft F. Piston engine themed = Also fit's : D G. Little to no cities = This is actually true as it's mainly a desert map. H. Not in the Pacific = It's in the middle east I. It was almost gonna be Malta if Jason had his way. J. They picked five theatres of war before deciding the final one. The reason why I this this will be the next module it's a very interesting time frame and equipment used. As it's blue on blue aircraft which should be challenging and fun. Speaking off the aircraft lest look at the list ! Israel S-199 P-51D-20 T-6 Beaufigter (Collector) Egypt ( & other Arab nations) Mc 205V Spitfire Mk.V/Trop C-47 (Bomber variant) Hawker Fury (Collector) As you can see it's an interesting set up with a transport aircraft acting as a bomber to a Frankenstein Bf 109. But you can also see 6 aircraft can also be used in other modules too ! On to the map This isn't the map size I want the map to be it's just to show the area and as you can see immediately not a lot is happening here. Just sand, sea and hills this should make dogfighting very interesting indeed. Plus it will make a good stand in for north Africa too. So those are my thoughts, could this be the next module ? SYN_Speck Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) Read up on the S-199. And look at the pictures, very strange with a He-111 prop and spinner on the front of a 109G! "The substitute engine with the propeller lacked the responsiveness of the Daimler-Benz unit and the torque created by the massive paddle-bladed propeller made control very difficult. This, in combination with the 109's narrow-track undercarriage, made landings and takeoffs extremely hazardous." "The Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine allowed for a central cannon mount (Motorkanone in German) that fired through the propeller spinner. As the Jumo 211 did not have provision for this, the S-199 used a version of the Rüstsatz VI modification kit. This consisted of a single MG 151 cannon mounted beneath each wing, but this further impaired the aircraft's performance. A final hidden danger lay in the gun synchronizer for the cowl-mounted MG 131 machine guns, which did not function as envisaged, leading to some Israeli pilots shooting off their own propellers." (Wikipedia) I don't think it would be a big seller, but I'd love to try sim-flying it! At least it has an Erla-haube! Edited September 4, 2023 by SYN_Speck 3

I'm not sure if this is meant seriously or not? - Very low intensity of air combat (20-is kills for the IAF in the entire war). - Commercially not very interesting; few people know anything about it. - Politically sketchy and never really resolved; unlike the relationship between the Allied and Axis countries, there's still lots of outstanding issues and mutual hate. 3
Calos_01 Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) My guess is it´s Malta. No big cities, not Italy, lot of water. Almost the entire planeset could be occupied by NEW versions of the Spit, Hurricane and 109 ?. New technologies (carriers or torpedoes) are not strictly necessary, but can be introduced and tested here before going to the Pacific. Edited September 4, 2023 by Calos_01
KG100_Brannon Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Is there any plans for the P-38 L version to be made available ? Thanks ! 1
LuftManu Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 ???? The worst part is that whatever is coming is announced, we will see an end of these threads. 6
Hoss Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) CBI......... USAAF, RAF, RAAF, for the Allies. Verses IJA Aviation aircraft of the time. No carriers, hardly any cities, and it's a very large area to choose from. Edited September 4, 2023 by Hoss 4
BlitzPig_EL Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 I like that idea Hoss, but I have my doubts.

tattywelshie Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 I wonder if we’ll actually find out this year?

DBFlyguy Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 (edited) After all this time and drag out... It's either gonna be genre defining amazing or... a massive disappointment. I hope for their sake its the former....but...If it's the latter... well, Michael and Jon both have their popcorn ready for the self inflicted PR ?-storm of epic proportions that will descend on these forums that will be the shining example of "CAUTION: Literally do anything BUT this" in game development for years to come.... Guess we'll see ? Edited September 5, 2023 by DBFlyguy 2

dburne Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 It has seriously turned into a several month long joke. I wonder why we rarely see any of the Devs posting in here any more? Or maybe they are occasionally and I just miss them... 2
Feldgrun Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 I think it's going back East. Jason took us West, but East is where this sim resides.
migmadmarine Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 While I think 48 Israel would be cool, I would be astonished if this is what it is.
NachtJaeger110 Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 I still think this would be a good candidate 1 1 6
