idol7059 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Can anyone summarise the differences between the two products? I can fly WW1 planes in IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, so what does Flying Circus add? Also, what's the difference between Flying Circus's volumes 1 and 2?
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 31, 2023 1CGS Posted August 31, 2023 Yes, any of the planes can be flown on any of the maps included within both series. The difference between FC 1 and 2 is the planes offered. The rendered map area is the same.

Well, FC adds the ability to fly WWI planes - if you didn't own FC you would not be able to fly WWI planes in IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad, because that module doesn't include any WWI planes.
senseispcc Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 It is fun, but only fun to fly the old WW1 plane over the cities like Brussels or Le Havre or try to play at Bleriot and cross the Chanel in one of those old planes.

Both Battle of Stalingrad and Flying Circus are basically DLCs of the base game, IL2: Battle of [something]. Battle of Stalingrad includes the Stalingrad map as well as a number of aircraft appropriate for a 1942 Stalingrad scenario. Flying Circus 1 and 2 include the WW1 Western Front map as well as a number of aircraft appropriate for a 1918 Western Front scenario. Besides IL2: BoS and FC 1&2, there's also Battle of Moscow, Battle of Kuban, Battle of Bodenplatte and Battle of Normandy. 3 hours ago, idol7059 said: I can fly WW1 planes in IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad Only if you've bought any of the Flying Circus games, otherwise you can't. Flying Circus also makes available the 1918 Western Front map. 3 hours ago, idol7059 said: Also, what's the difference between Flying Circus's volumes 1 and 2? The aircraft included.
Soilworker Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I think AEtheIraedUnraed described it pretty well however I think saying it's like DLC is a bit misleading, "modules" is a better descriptor as you can play any one on its own and add more into the ecosystem as you wish, you don't need a "base game" (not that AE is saying that, it could just be construed that way) - unless you buy it on Steam I believe, then you have to start with BoS (if you haven't bought it yet buy it from the website and support the devs!) 1
JG4_Moltke1871 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 The ability to fly any plane on any map of any module is primarily developed to give you the ability to cross the channel with a Gotha and bomb Stonehenge on the Normandy map. ?
