Open FFBoard - Laserwing Force Feed Back (FFB)

I just got my Laser Wing FFB joystick to work in IL2 BOM.

I have very positive things to say about it so far, but I've noticed something...

I was reading another thread about problems with the 109 trim settings and FFB joystick response.

Oddly the 109 was the first plane that I had flown with the FFB and I had zero problems getting it trimmed up and it felt great and was realistic to trim to remove stick pressure in level flight (I fly occasionally).

However, when I switched to the IL-2 it was another issue all together.

I throttled up on the runway and all the bumps from the wheels translated right into the controls like normal for the game.

As it came up to speed the control felt foreign, but I am new to FFB so I went with it.

Once airborne the stick pushed was back towards me hands off, actually back from normal center, I had to PUSH hard forward on the stick to maintain level flight.

Trim control did essentially nothing, it went from worse to worse -100% to +100%, it did feel like it was going to work but I think I was just being hopeful.

At no point could I achieve anywhere near hands off level flight, and the plane would want to climb steeply to the point of power on stall.

(When stalled the control pressure disappeared, until speed came back, then it was stick to guts again)

This seemed like a issue with the Open FFBoard software, so I paused and restarted the controls.

(When I alt-tabbed out of the game the FFB went neutral again, aka to the game independent setting)

All settings looked okay in the Open FFBoard Configurator, everything was centered, responsive, etc.. - I restated it all anyway.

No change in the IL-2's behavior.

So next I went to the P-40 and the stick acted normal again and I was able to trim, although I felt it was excessive.

Back to the IL-2, SAME PROBLEM.  Steep climb, impossible to trim, stick had to be held in the "neutral" position with a HARD forward push.

Is this normal for the IL-2?  Surely this climbing behavior is wrong, I am doing something wrong somewhere??  Is there a aircraft specific setting that can get out of wack?

Do I have gremlins in my virtual IL2 linkage?

Thanks for reading!

Just an update.

Took the IL-2 out again last night and there was no issue with the trim control.

Oddly it was the P-40 that gave me trouble instead.  Tempest and P-51B also flew perfectly.

I alt-tabbed out of the game once or twice, but otherwise this was all in the same session.  (When the game loses focus the FFB stops likely as a safety precaution)

Our multiplayer server crashed and the game has to be quit using alt-f4 and when I loaded it back up I lost all joystick settings because my sticks were recognized differently.  Maybe another cold boot will fix this.

Here's some eye candy, I'm using a 3d printed KG-13 grip designed by Dutch
