greybeard_52 Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 I played a transport escort mission (which already looked weird on the map because the rendezvous point with the transports was located at the very bottom left corner) which ended in a stalemate because the transports didn't show up at the meeting. Then I played in Rise of Flight a front patrol mission, where my formation never arrived, instead starting to circle on the first waypoint. In both cases, I wasn't the flight leader, and was playing in stock career mode. I've started careers in both games (BoS and RoF), with and without PWCG, but it's always the same disappointment: the AI often fails to handle the mission. Mind you, it's not that the current AI is worthless, on the contrary: the maneuvers are generally excellent. But it seems to me, that there are drawbacks both in generation and management of the mission. I remember in Red Baron 3D an artificial intelligence so sophisticated that someone had fun creating a mod entitled "PPP (Pilot Personality Profiles) where the player defined the personality of each pilot of the squadron, who then behaved accordingly in the game ... There, on the other hand, the maneuvers were, in my opinion, the weak point: repetitive and unrealistic. Perhaps, with the spread of the Internet, developers increasingly assumed that everyone played online, but I think they are still many to play offline, and then, if there is a career mode, it must work!
AEthelraedUnraed Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 (edited) This sounds like a mission generation problem, not an AI problem, and if you want the Devs to look into it you should attach the generated mission to your post Edit: and you should also post here, probably, instead of in the complaints section: Edited August 17, 2023 by AEthelraedUnraed

It's _gen.Mission (and _gen.msnbin and all the other _gen.* files) inside the data\Missions folder. Note that it gets overwritten each time a new mission is generated, so if something went wrong that you want to report, you need to save it right away. 1 1

Unfortunately, that was already overwritten.? I shall try to document future hiccups on which I could stumble.
