Hi everyone,

Team Fusion Simulations have provided the three videos below which shows that a small but significant visual glitch involving the passage of aircraft through TrueSKY clouds and ground mist has been fixed. The early morning fog effects in London is absolutely amazing!

So it doesn't create a hole anymore?

Would it be worth posting my video showing what the issue was?

Otherwise it's not possible for non-beta folks to appreciate significance of the OP.

Well... the fact the video does looks great is also the reason we posted it...  ?

But we will look at perhaps posting the other video comparison... not MP's video, our own because it matches exactly the fixed video we showed above.

We value MP's observations on the VR Beta forum... that was why I invited him in even though he is not a VR user... but we were aware of this issue a long time prior...  There are multiple issues which concern us... from crashes in VR, to the blending of the original game's smoke/contrail effects with trueSKY's clouds... all these need to be fixed and are being approached systematically.

Sometimes it may be hard to people to understand... but TF members are flight sim enthusiasts as well... everyone from our team was recruited from players who fly CLIFFS, GREAT BATTLES, DCS, and before that IL-2 and RED BARON, etc. etc.  So when we see problems we want to fix them... but of course, the reality of creating complex Flight Simulations and adding completely new code which uses different algorithms from the originals used and fixing problems that arise during this implementation takes skill and time.

The Maddox Games code which is the basis for CLIFFS is completely unique... no other game out there is like it...  except the original IL-2 series and the code in IL-2 Birds of Prey.

AFAIK the most recent beta test was in May 2023. Hope is that Speedtree '8' testing starts this year. Unfortunately, each new graphics upgrade can make the game more unstable relative to VR. Game crashes in VR really must not happen at "public" release. Doubt it would be easy to back out VR related code revisions at this late date.

I had game crashes in VR happen numerous times in IL2 GB, DCS, WarThunder and MSFS.  Then a new video driver is released or a game update and everything is ok again. Best way to develop software is to release small updates often. This is all bleeding edge stuff and users are prepared to take some pain as long as regular fixes and updates keep coming. The way DCS does it with a regularly updating Beta version with all the latest features alongside a stable version works for me. If we had that then everyone who wanted could be enjoying VR now under the understanding that it was Beta so dont cry if it crashes. Build in a crash reporting tool and the community will assist in testing for free. I bought CLOD and Tobruk the moment VR development was announced( to support the game in anticipation of VR) . Was that 3 or 4 years back now?

It does not need to be perfect.  The other sims all have their problems but at least they have the balls to keep on releasing new versions regularly.

I've never used MSFS 2020 or WT. My experience with RoF/GB is that that game engine has been rock solid thruout numerous updates and Nvidia drivers such that I came to take their update processes for granted. In the last several years stability of Blitz has improved substantially, but I cannot forget the many hours spent trying every rabbit hole to figure out how to avoid crashing to desktop or having to reboot my pc. I suspect that TFS/Fulqrum have already calculated the risk/reward of releasing the Visual Update beta in its' current state and have decided not to go public with it. The times I have had crashes out of VR in GB and DCS have been when experimenting with undervolting or overclocking gpu or cpu. O/W both have been stable. I don't know how long new players would tolerate crashes out of VR even in an acknowledged "public" Blitz beta. Certainly Speedtree 8/9 wouldn't need to be included in a "public" beta if trueSKY and VR are both stable.
