Do we have the planeset to create the invasion of Italy? (Wondering if that could be the next expansion)

Africa would be a dream come true. We got most german, many allied and no italian aircraft. Many planes left to sell and the same time many ready planes to work with.

 

We should not forget that a new scenario could be like BoS. Exciting new project but limited content.

If the devs know that 'there's a decent portion of us who simply aren't interested in the CloD ecosystem' then they won't take that into consideration because it makes zero sense from a business point of view to cover a place that another team has already covered in great detail when there are other places like Sicily that would be appealing to more players including those who are interested in the CloD ecosystem.

Even if it were five theatres of war, this depends a lot on the definition of "Theatre", whose definition it is, and at which point in time  For instance, the CBI is usually seen as a separate theatre from the Pacific.

 

I think Norway is very unlikely; not many big (fighter) battles there, except perhaps over Murmansk but that's Russia and not Norway.

 

One thing I've been thinking of, given the level of enthusiasm of the team as well as the fact that whatever they did announce seems to point to something completely new, is if they abandon the concept of "maps" and move to a whole-world system à la MSFS. Without the photorealism, of course, but one where you can seamlessly fly from England (the map of which you can buy) all the way to Germany (which you can buy as well).

It’s not Italy or Burma.

They already said that PTO is next after the upcoming module. You can lump CBI in with PTO. So if that comes it will be later.

That actually sounds pretty fun. And I have zero issues with a planeset like that!!

 

On a more serious note, have we considered North Africa as the potential next battle? The "Agreement" with clod always sounded like BS, and even if it wasn't, with clod now off in Fulqrum land theres no way such agreement still exists. It could add some strange new interesting piston based aircraft (Italians, while also filling in some of the Western Allies Midwar plane gap,) there wouldn't be a lot of cities, its "not Italy," "Not PTO," but would have room to add carriers down the line, and would explain all the blank desert skins being added in the tactical codes update!

I remember from many years back, Phobos put together a video of a mod that was created retexturing the Channel map of Clod (long before the TFS Tobruk map). 

 

There is certainly a lot of scope for an Africa campaign.

But the Devs have already said that a Pacific theater, BOP?, would be the second theater in the new project/ engine if I am not mistaken. Looks like Combat Pilot might beat them to the punch but who knows. What I do know is that the Corsair in DCS is a first day purchase for me as it comes with a carrier, so I will be practicing trapping a tail dragger before most.
