SPAD 13 throttle sticks up

It's now twice this happens in two consecutive missions: throttle stick after a few minutes of flight locks up and refuses to move and engine can run only at maximum. I move my throttle on the desk (a Thrustmaster Flight Hotas X) but nothing changes in the simulation (I mean both animation of throttle lever - stuck all the way back - and engine RPM). I go then into setting and can see throttle representation moving, as well as in joystick control panel all is working and ok. All other aircraft I'm flying in other careers work (e.g.: S.E.5a, Bf 109, P-40, Camel, etc.). I'm forced to reduce speed by mixture... but it's not pleasant. ☹️

I think this is an example of interference among game commands typical of this sim; another instance I got is lock of visuals (padlock and pan view no more working). I wish developers will deal with this soon. In the meantime I wonder if anyone got same hiccup and found a work-around...

Given that no one else has reported this issue and the Spad 13 uses the same engine control layout as the SE5a, this is 99.9% likely a hardware issue and not anything to do with the game.

Maybe, but I can't understand why this defect only occurs with the SPAD 13 and not with any of the others!?

I just ran a check and confirmed the Spad 13's engine controls work properly, so somewhere you have an issue with your controller and how it's mapped to control this plane.

Thanks for your kind assistance. Me too, if I try the SPAD 13 in Quick Mission I see the throttle working properly. But, quoting myself in my opening message of this thread, the glitch happens "after a few minutes". So please, if you have the time, you should try to personally fly (not autopilot) the SPAD 13 during a mission for at least 10 minutes; if nothing happens I will continue to look for a problem in my system (although I have no idea what it could be). In the meantime, I'm attaching some screenshots to complete the picture of my situation.

As someone who enjoys to break the devs' sometimes janky controller code in PROD (still two force feedback bugs to fix -- pretty please with sugar on top), and at great personal expense (Belgians were granted only very few SPAD XIIIs to fly), I took you up on your challenge and I can confirm that...

 

It's you, it's not the sim. Absolutely nothing wrong with the SPAD XIII's throttle during a leisurely sightseeing flight over the pearly beaches of Kuban Summer. Spent about 15 minutes hand-flying and another 10 or so in timescale 8. Tested on my main machine and account with an MSFFB2 + Virpil Mongoose combo. Also tested on a secondary machine with an X-52 Pro HOTAS. Sadly I no longer own a T.Flight Hotas X, it was a nice little HOTAS combo for Elite Dangerous way back when.

 

Let's try and troubleshoot your issue:

 

• Delete/reset your SPAD XIII custom input profiles and set the throttle controls in the main Controls section for all planes
   
• Delete/reinstall/update the Thrustmaster software you have installed, making sure no other controllers are attached (doesn't look like it from Game Controllers)
   
• Delete/reinstall IL-2 GB

 

If that doesn't fix it, you likely have a hardware issue. This seems very unlikely as you don't seem to report that this issue occurs with any other plane, so almost certain it is a problem with your custom control profile for the SPAD XIII.

Yeah I agree, I would just delete the custom input file for the Spad XIII and reset it since the throttle is working on the others.

In fact, it seemed like the most logical thing to me too, but I first wanted to try cleaning the hard drive and then defragmenting it, and it was successful! I did just one test, and therefore I was waiting to communicate it: the throttle of the SPAD XIII no longer locks!
