Hi guys,

I'm currently running a Quest 2, and am generally pleased with it, but looking now to upgrade. My question is, is the Reverb G2 worth the upgrade? Is there any noticeable difference between the two?

If you didn't have the quest 2 already, the G2 is a no brainer for flight sims. Since you do the question is just about how much disposable income do you have, and are you willing to spend it on a headset thats better or equal in almost every way, but isn't a giant leap forward. The big difference would be no compression, so better picture and performance.

It appears that HP is no longer selling the G2, but remaining stock is still available on Amazon and a few other sites, and for less than HP's original price, which makes it an even better deal.  I understand that HP will continue to support the G2 through 2026.  I have two and plan to keep using them until something remarkably better and reasonably priced comes along.

I have both a Quest 2 and HP G2, ver.  2.  I got the Quest 2 first and later the HP.  The HP made a huge difference on my mid-level system for flight sims.  I keep the Quest 2 for the stand alone games.

Seems they still sell it over here... but it does say "low stock / will be sold out soon".

EDIT:

@tattywelshie I find these "through the lenses" videos pretty helpful. They're probably about as close as you can get to seeing the differences between sets without actually wearing/using them:

From all of his videos that I've seen, the G2 seems to be holding up rather well in 2023, considering its age. The only comparison I've watched that looked like the G2 might be "in trouble" was the one vs the Bigscreen Beyond. The difference in text-clarity shown in the shots from Elite Dangerous is quite amazing.

It also demonstrates the G2's rather small sweet-spot. Look at the guy standing to the left of the racetrack in the Asseto Corsa clip - he looks pretty damn sharp in the Beyond, but a little fuzzy and blurry in the G2.

That thing does look rather interesting when it comes to display-tech and resolution. Plus it's downright tiny and super light - less like a motorcycle-helmet and more like a pair of sunglasses.

Alas, it does have a price-tag to match ... ?
