Nic727 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Hi, do you have any informations about a DVD version of the game? In my country (Canada) I don't have unlimited download so if I use all my limit for the game, it will be bad. For me, a DVD version is much better and I alway use DVD version of the game, because after I can install the game everywhere I want. For activating the game, I have ROF and I don't really like that. Instead of one code for the game, it's one code for one account and I think it's stupid. I have ROF Iron Cross Edition and the problem is that my father installed the game for my birthday, but he use the code on his account and now, I'm stuck with a default game without all aircraft. I don't want to buy another game (because the code cost is the same as the game itself) so I'm stuck... What I want is a system like that (like Il2 1946) : - Put DVD - Enter the code for installation - Install the game - Can put unlimited account (local account) - Can play multiplayers with your local account (Local account is not forum account like ROF). That's it. - You could install the game on a maximum of 3 PC to play simultaneous. - You can desinstall the game from one PC and install it on another. -------> You can only play on 3 PC at the same time, but you can install the game on 5 PC if you want, but only play on 3 PC at the same time. I think it could work. What do you think? The thing is that Il2 1946 doesn't need code, so... 1
Skoshi_Tiger Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Hi Nic, I bought the original ROF on disk for the same reason (that and the fact I like shiny disks). The only problem was by the time the disks hit the shelves it was aleady out of date and required a substantial download to get it up to current. I can't remember having any option to keep the disk version. Same with all the DVD distributions I've bought recently. I guess it's the price we pay for the convenience of having automatic patches and updates. I'm in Australia and we get hit hard with download limits as well. Cheers!
Nic727 Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Yeah, but patch are ok for me, because a game it's about between 4 and 10 GB download and the patches are about 500mb to 1Gb. I hope I could pre-order a DVD version soon.
FuriousMeow Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 There are ways around downloading the full game yourself. You could ask for someone to download it and burn it to DVD to mail it to you. It'd be the same as ordering it and having the box shipped to you. As far as multiple installs and playing at the same time with the same purchase, that'll likely never happen again. ArmA II will allow installs on different computers, but can't play online at the same time. DCS has a limited number of installs. They have to make money to keep making content for us, so every person legimitely paying for their own copy is the only avenue for revenue in this genre.
FLGibsonJr Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Does anyone know if their will be a boxed edition of this game offered with a DVD etc? Regards, Gibson
Matze81 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) I got the information, that they'll decide in a couple of months about a boxed version. By then they'll know whether or not they can afford it. Edited August 4, 2013 by Matze81 1
FLGibsonJr Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I prefer getting the box and DVD, I was just wondering if it was planned. They had a nice boxed edition for the original RoF game. Regards, Gibson

Regards, Gibson I prefer boxed versions of games as well. I hope the Pre-order sales go well, because personally I wouldn't mind a nice Collector's Edition either! 3
Nic727 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 thank you Just hope it will return like the good old time, when you was able to install the game where you want and to have multiple in-game account instead of "login" account. But just a question, how it worked before? Was it a key linked to the DVD (don't know about Il2 1946 digital version) or it was a key with an online activation? Because I can install my Il2 1946 everywhere in my house and play at the same time on all computer both singleplayers and online with hyperlobby... lol
FuriousMeow Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) You need an account to play the game at the same time with all of the installs, that's the only way. You can install it anywhere you want, you want to play at the same time those count as two different copies of the game and thusly need two accounts. You can't take a XBox DVD and play it on two different XBoxes at the same time. You MUST buy two copies of the game. Same thing here. Edited March 13, 2014 by FuriousMeow
1CGS BlackSix Posted March 13, 2014 1CGS Posted March 13, 2014 I've merged two threads with questions about the boxed edition

Hi, I know that you can't play the game on two or more computer at the same time. But if I return to your xbox exemple, if you but the game one time, you can play with more than one account on the xbox (you have the game, so i dont see the point to have to buy another game for the second account) and if you want or your xbox is broken, you can install the game on another xbox. hope you know what I mean. With Rise of Flight, we are 3 players in the family and bought the game DVD for about $40 (?) and one account has the full game and the two others have the demo version. We dont want to but another game just to play on a second account. And in Il2 1946, you launch the game and you have local account. you should be able to play online with your local account or forum account, but for free. whatever, I'm not the best to explain something, but hope you understand
BeastyBaiter Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 RoF allows you to create multiple profiles per account. Each player in your household can have their own profile. Each profile gets its own career, stats (both MP and SP) and everything else seperate. You might even get different joystick profiles though I haven't checked. Obviously you can only be logged in one at a time so you can't fly together under this method. If you find a way to circumvent this limitation without buying more copies of the game, it is called piracy. You bought one copy of the game, therefore you are allowed to use one copy of the game at any given time. Technically that copy is only for the purchaser but fair use in the US dictates it is reasonable for household usage. The ability to have a dozen different people using the same key at the same time all over the world for IL2:1946 is the very reason all modern games I know of require the user to log in, even for single player only games. 1

It's the same with RoF, I have two profiles in RoF with different names that run different careers. I can't play the profiles at the same time, but they are two different profiles. So it's exactly like Xbox, you can have 5 different profiles on the Xbox that tracks that game on 5 different profiles. But those profiles can't play the game at the same time, unless you get another Xbox with another copy of the game. If you want to play an Xbox game on another Xbox, you can do that. You want to play at the same time - you buy another copy of the game. Same thing here. Edited March 13, 2014 by FuriousMeow

Nic727 Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) Hi, I would like to know if the boxed version exist or not? Finally, is it like ROF where it's one account for one game or you can have unlimited account with one game? Thank you Edited December 23, 2014 by Nic727
FuriousMeow Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) This again? There is a boxed version. Its no different than the download from site version, or the Steam version, and all of those version will have to be downloaded and installed. A boxed version is actually a waste of time to go out and purchase, it will be faster to purchase the digital version from the site or Steam. If you ever have to re-install, the boxed version will be so many patches behind it will take longer to reinstall than it would be to download the current version from the website or Steam. There is an unlimited account, but you can't play at the same time on multiple computers. RoF's single account allowed for multiple profiles, so you and your "dad" could have multiple profiles to play. No developer in their right mind allows a single purchase to be played by more than a single person at a time anymore. You have to purchase the game multiple times if you plan on playing with multiple people at the same time with the same game purchase. It's quite clear you want to buy one copy and use it with several people at the same time - no, that is not right. Or you are trying to pirate, and that isn't right either. Just purchase the game. The last excuse of your "dad" purchasing RoF for you, and then using it for "himself", doesn't fly. Either purchase the game like everyone else, or don't play it.
