kraut1 Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 (edited) Hi, I am thinking about buying a Quest 2 (due to the costs and the hopefully moderate hardware requirements). My current PC (used with Rift-S): AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor, 3593 MHz (overclocked to 4GHz), 8 Kern(e), 16 logische(r) Prozessor(en), Installierter physischer Speicher (RAM) 15,9 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB (mainboard data currently not available, I am not at home) One bottleneck is the CPU of course. My question: 1) could my RTX2070Super and a better cpu be sufficient for IL2GB with a Meta Quest 2 with native resolution and balanced ... high graphic settings? 2)if my gpu is not good enough: which not too expensive combination of gpu / cpu for a new PC would fit together in respect of a Quest2 and IL2GB? Thanks in advance and Best regards Edited August 4, 2023 by kraut1
Qcumber Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I would suggest an upgrade of cpu and GPU and hold off on a new headset until you have seen what the rift s looks like on the new system. You might be surprised. I got a Pico 4 a few months ago and its great. However, I kept my rift s and still use it. If you can ignore the "screen door" you can get much higher game settings and good frame rates with low latencies. 1

Thanks, a good idea. Which GPU / CPU are you using? Edited August 5, 2023 by kraut1

The 6700 was enough for good game play for IL-2 with the rift s and acceptable for the Pico 4. The rtx 4070 gives good game play with the Pico 4 so I would imagine it would have no issues with the quest 2. Processor wise if you can keep your current motherboard then a 5600x is cheap but the 5800x3d is quite cheap now too and is better. A budget option for a GPU could be an rx 6800x which is similar performance to a 4070 but no DLSS, which doesn't matter for il-2 but might for other games, and potentially the "new IL-2 project". 1
