The 'WW1 Wobble' - An Example

Recommended Posts

So, in another post, I and some others mentioned the AI's extremely strange behavior when chasing or trying to get on the 6 of enemy aircraft. It's a behavior I'd describe as an evasive wobble, as if they're trying to juke people behind them or avoid a head on.

Problem is, they do this pretty much every time they're attempting to target an enemy, with the only real luck either being 700m potshots (right before they start wobbling), or lucky deflection shots.
This is extraordinarily repeatable, even so far as having four Dva's wobble behind me whilst I was but a singular lone recon plane. It neuters the AI's ability to shoot and results in 20+ minute dogfights with almost no bullets on either side meeting their targets. It's particularly frustrating trying to lead a career where you can't really do all the work yourself, and all of your squadmates are currently on the deck doing twirls around eachother unable to get anything done.

Strangely, this behavior is almost entirely present only on the WW1 aircraft - I've yet to encounter situations with the WW2 planes that resemble this.

It's very easy to repeat so I can get plenty more examples (as well as track files if desired) but I just encountered a pretty good example here. Both planes following the target craft are british and attempting to intercept, before they're chased off at the end by another german aircraft.
