AI gestures

I'd be curious to know the meaning of the gestures made by the AI on various occasions; unfortunately I can't find any information about it in the manual.
For example, I wonder why the opponent I'm chasing and strafing raises and waves his arm: is it a signal to his mates or is it aimed at me? (Or is it just for show?)
Even the gesturing by a mate of my own flight, who is not the flight leader, intrigues me: what is he signaling and to whom?

If I have this right, AI gestures do not actually mean anything and the AI will not act on them.

The hand signals are to be used for human to human whilst in MP.

Flight leader commands on the other hand, are for you to give orders to your AI wing men, who should respond.

Thanks for the reply. Your explanation was very clear!? (<--gesture which means success!?)

I think if you're chasing a plane the pilot waves his hands around as a request for help. In other words, "Help I'm up the creek!". Rather funny actually especially when Spad pilots do it.

Yes! I too noticed his arm goes through the upper wing...?
