--[---MAILMAN---- Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 (edited) I made the mistake long ago adding custom skins into the individual plane skin folders before making a copy of the original Skins folder. I want to start over fresh (not the entire simulator) with only the skins that were installed by the game initially and by subsequent updates to the game including official campaigns and missions to the present version. 1. Are any Official Skins found in?: data/graphics/Skins/vehicle or plane folders 2. Did IL-2 Great Battles install any custom skins in any of these folders for example to go with official campaigns and missions? 3. Are only custom skins manually or HSD installed in these folders? 4. Can I safely delete all of the skins found in data/graphics/Skins/vehicles or plane folders without affecting the official installation (missions/campaigns/quick missions/multiplayer)? I already used HSD to remove any and all aircraft skins that I installed using the HSD program/application. Next I want to delete any and all custom skins I added for non-official missions and campaigns such as PWCG etc. I have them all saved in their original .zip files to add later. I will document which ones I will install when I get around to adding them again. Thank you for any help with this. Edited July 12, 2023 by --[---MAILMAN----
Skycat1969 Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 I installed a clean copy to check. All of the skins folders are empty except there are two in the Spitfire Mk.Vb folder (SpitfireMkVb_4k_57GIAP_Player and SpitfireMkVb_4k_57GIAP_Player_2). My test install is the web launcher version (not Steam), so no Battle of Stalingrad or Flying Circus. I have all of the other WWII packs, Tank Crew, and most of the Collector Planes on my web account. I don't think that matters though, because Great Battles is a universal install.
czech693 Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 If you want to get original skins back the way they were with the initial sim install, you need to unpack the .gtp files using unGTP which is a free download. This will create a (null) folder in your main sim folder. There everything is original stuff. Doesn't take long as unGTP works pretty fast.
Skycat1969 Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 The skins archived in the .gtp files don't need to be unpacked. They are the defaults unless skins with the same name are in your Skins folder.

There is a German captured P-51D skin, that is used in the P-38 campaign "Lightning Strikes" from what I remember.

Also note that deleting skins never breaks missions; whenever the skin referenced in the mission file doesn't exist, it reverts back to the default skin for that particular aircraft and country.
