April 24th, 1943 - Taman Peninsula

 

The spring rains have arrived, and with them the mud. We've spent all winter pushing the Germans back, but the earth has been churned into a soggy mess and it stopped the advance. In the slow ebb and flow of fighting, one regiment has been left stranded and surrounded in Krymskaya. With no access to an airfield, we must push back, hold off a German counter-offensive, and buy our brothers time to link up.

 

Just before sunset, we moved our planes to an airfield along the front line. We'll strike at the enemy in their sleep, and deny them the strength to continue their fight.

 

It is night, and the night belongs to us.
