Zooropa_Fly Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 As per the pics, the plane markings appear reversed on the port side of all 190 models. I checked a 109 and it was the same.
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 8, 2023 1CGS Posted July 8, 2023 That's how they are meant to be, and they are the same way on the 109s. Limitation of needing to have two code spaces in front of the fuselage national insignia. 1
czech693 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I've stared at those two pictures for a while. What do you mean by reversed? They are in the same location on both sides and facing the correct way on both sides. What am I missing?

The assumption of the op is that the code is meant to be read left to right when in fact the letters are two separate elements of the code I guess.
MajorMagee Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 It's a matter of reading the codes front to back, versus left to right. For example, in the early war years the rule to follow was not specifically defined by the RAF, so a mixture of methods was used. US Flag decals are displayed front to back like they are blowing in the prevailing wind, so they are "reversed" when on the starboard side. 2
