Dyslex Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) The last version I played was 1946. I want to get into a new version of IL2, but I'm not sure which one. Which version do you like the best and where can I get a discount? Thanks. Edited June 24, 2023 by Dyslex
Rjel Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 If you're about '46 look here - https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/122-il-2-sturmovik-1946/ If you're asking about the different versions of BoX, I'd recommend going with the plane set that interests you most that is featured on a given map. Play wise, they're all similar more or less. 1 1

There are only two places you can purchase: here at the website and at Steam -- so really the question is "when can I get a discount?" The sales used to be every couple of months, but they're less frequent now. The website is a little better for sales; and sometimes promo codes are offered to registered account members. When there is a sale at either venue, you can usually get two or three titles for less than $50 total. I think Battle of Kuban is the best overall for scenery; and I like the aircraft. Kuban captures the spirit of the old IL-2 Forgotten Battles. However, it really is best combined with Battle of Stalingrad for a full IL-2 experience. Battle of Moscow is good also, and it completes the Eastern Front triad. Stalingrad is the most balanced IMO, and arguably its the best place to start as you get back into the series. The remaining two World War II titles are Battle of Normandy and Battle of Bodenplatte. If you like USAAF and RAF aircraft or late war Luftwaffe fighters and jets, these are your must-haves. Normandy is the newest title but I personally prefer Bodenplatte for its single player campaign play and its aircraft. 1

Trooper117 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 My favourite GB version will be 'Korea, 1950-53'... (if it turns up of course)
