An interesting message from Buzzsaw (in the ATAG forum) announces the historical period that is covered by version 6.0. Please TFS, tell if the following is correct:

1) Version 4.5: the "Cliffs of Dover - Blitz" base game (Channel map) deals with the Battle of Britain only and covers the period from mid-July 1940 to late October 1940

2) Version 5.0: the add-on "Desert Wings - Tobruk" (Tobruk map) covers the period from mid-June 1940 to the end of June 1942

3) Version 6.0: the add-on "Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs" that is currently under development (new Channel map) covers the period from late August 1941 to late autumn 1942

4) Version 6.5: this "cheaper-payable half-an add-on" adds new flyable aircraft, includding an Avro Lancaster. Period and map yet unknown. Most likely no new map includded.

I thought it went to December 1940 hence the Winter map

I feel that is for the Channel map as it goes to August 1941 in 5.0. If Malta or Greece is the main map then they could start at 1940 and if Malta started in August 1941 then we would miss the Illustrious Blitz.

The base game officially covers the Battle of Britain (July 1940 - October 1940). I think the Autumn and Winter maps were made before TF becomes TFS, thus far before Tobruk. These two additional maps are pretty useful with the Tobruk add-on, especially the Winter map, but I don't think they are part of the content that defines the base game. I think they are more of "fandom" content, or "modders" content ("pre-Blitz" content, before 2017).

I gave the link ATAG in my original post, if you clink on it, you'll read what Buzzsaw litterally stated: "TF 6.0 dates will be from late August 1941 to approx. late fall 1942".

Cheers!

Yes I read what Buzzsaw said. If it is Malta then you do have a point as August 1941 was the month after Operation Substance reinforced Malta, but as I stated because we have a 1940 plane set then there can be a lot of Malta scenarios with the Blitz and most of the Tobruk planeset which take place before the summer of 1941.
The person was talking about flying a Spitfire Mk.V against a Fw-190 (and possibly a Bf-109G). The Fw-190 entered service in August 1941 and there were no battles between them in the MTO until late 1942.

If Buzzsaw had said TF 6.0 dates would be from summer 1940 to late 1942 then that’s a dead give away that it will be Malta and if he said November 1940 to late 1942 then that could be Greece.

Anyway, unless stated otherwise, I believe he was referring to the dates for the Channel map.

That's fine to me, Enceladus. I wasn't speculating on the set, only asking to TFS if my understanding of the timeline is correct.

I just updated the original post. Please TFS tell if whether or not it is correct.
