IckyATLAS Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) I am moving from an older Win 10 to a brand new Win 11 system. I am now trying to configure and use my Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas + the TPR Rudder pedal unit. I have installed IL2 and programmed first in the game settings all the axis bindings for the Joystick Throttle and Rudder. All work fine and I can see them moving correctly. Then I launch the IL2 game from the Thrustmaster Target software which connects to the three units (and displays all ok) and then launches Il2. Up to here all is fine and when I enter the game I have the hangar window with the following message display: That a new controller is found is normal and the name Thrustmaster Cobined is correct. You can in windows display this controller and check that the Jostick, Throttle, Pedals and all axis and buttons work perfectly. Now my problem here is that IL2 gives me three choices to bind the Thrustmaster Combined Controller. I can only choose one of the three choices and not in a combined mode. You can see this in the picture below the case if I choose the Joystick: You can only choose one. This cannot work because you try to map a controller with three objects into one unique object. I tried and it does not work. If I cancel it does not work either. So I am at a loss here as I see no way to make this work. Did anybody run into a similar problem. Thank you for your help. After having tried by creating a new profile etc. I always end up with this window. I never had that under W10. My knowledge at the moment does not allow me to solve what after all appears to be a bug of IL2. The question asked is buggy because it cannot work. Edited June 22, 2023 by IckyATLAS
Hoss Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 (edited) Go and Delete the Input folders devices.txt file, i.e. IL2/data/input/devices.txt file. Then reboot, restart the computer, and start TARGET (always start target first) and it will regenerate a new devices list in your Input folder, restart your game, then exit out and go back and check your devices.txt file. When you see that message on your screen it means you messed up and did not start TARGET before you started the game. this is my devices.txt file configId,guid, model| 0,%22d53184a0-c0fa-11e9-0000545345440580%22,Thrustmaster%20Combined| TMWH running TARGET GUI gives Throttle and Stick as Combined device 1,%220e2280d0-c0fa-11e9-0000545345440180%22,MFG%20Crosswind%20V2| Crosswind pedals 2,%22bc302830-7e0d-11ec-0000545345440180%22,9%20axis%20112%20button%20device%20with%20hat%20switch| GVL Trim Box 3,%22797235a0-f385-11eb-0000545345440180%22,Joystick%20V2.04| BlackHog Button box 4,%220e22cef0-c0fa-11e9-0000545345440280%22,Joystick%20-%20HOTAS%20Warthog| I do not see this in either IL2 or DCS Settings/Keymapping GUI 5,%220e22f600-c0fa-11e9-0000545345440380%22,Throttle%20-%20HOTAS%20Warthog Same with this one. Now I don't have TM pedals so I'm not sure if you run TARGET the pedals are included in the combined configuration. You will have to tell me, but I imagine they are included. The device analyzer shows that all is fine and that the three work perfectly but for whatever reason in my new machine it is not working. On my old machine its all working fine and the Thrustmaster combined device does not create any problem. The only difference between the two machines is that I moved from Win10 to Win11. Now I did not know about the device, txt file. Thank you for this precious info. I will check it and report.
IckyATLAS Posted June 21, 2023 Author Posted June 21, 2023 (edited) Finally I did it. It works. The deletion of the device.txt file is fundamental to reset a rotten configuration. On the other hand I have reinstalled fresh the whole Thrustmaster system and drivers so that there are no past leftovers or conflicts. The TPR has been re-calibrated with the special Thrustmaster calibration application. The new device.txt file now has only one device listed and that is the Thrustmaster Combined one which is what I have. My previous .fcf configuration after re-saving all the axis did work perfectly. That was my big fear as to reprogram all the buttons hats and various things in Target would have taken a lot of time. The issues with these devices is that once it all works you keep the things for years until you do a big change. But after a few years you have completely forgotten how things were done, the installation process, and the drivers and software or firmware may have also changed. Edited June 21, 2023 by IckyATLAS
