Blitzen Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 I think I’ll pass.I thought I was getting a”no brainer”wireless headset, but instead am launched back into something more complex just to get it started….
ACG_TBird Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 If you want a plug and play headset, you can't do much better than the Quest 3 at a slightly higher price point. You will need to replace the strap, though. 1

Charger_ Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 This guy is saying you can upscale the Pico using Pico connect to 3070 x 3070 at 250mbs. Anyone tried this yet?

I did and its works really well using a USB-C cable, for some reason I get occasional micro stutters on wireless. I have it set 3760x3760 resolution at 200 mbps bitrate with HEVC on a 4090..

Considering i use Opencomposite to override resolution to 3800x3800 i suspect there is no gain there, but i probably will give this a try to test the bitrate out.
Blitzen Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 I had a very difficult time trying to set up a Pico 3 E ( Enterprise ) headset. Even though my PC had plenty of juice, the headset would simply not connect wirelesly and had no USB cable to connect , so I had to send the whole thing back. I am trying to replace my Reverb G2 with a wireless headset without the setup headaches I had with the Pico4 E.Do you suggest I try the Pico4 or is install and setup still a 'minefield "?
w00dy Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 I watched a few YouTube videos before setting up my Pico4 and it was easy after I had watched the videos. I would recommend a Pico4 to anyone playing flight sims, though I like to use a cable as I find it smoother. 1

I may have to wait .I’ve got e perfectly good simple Reverb G2 with cable connection & what I’d like is a simple & better headset ( and reasonably priced,)with a wireless connection. It sounds as if it isn’t here quite yet..

I came from a Dell WMR headset and found it a great update over my old headset, screen door effect one of the major things that was a lot better. The problem for me using wireless is I have an entire family hammer the router, with every gadget known to man 😄 Though if I was you, I would probably wait for the next Pico headset Edited April 11, 2024 by w00dy

162nd-YU-Markoni Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Hi. I have Tp-link AC1200-C6 router. Few days ago i started having problems. I started having big stutters in Il-2. When i turned on overlay i saw that latency was good. And big fps drops were related to bitrate drops. 5Ghz- 866 Mbps is my router default. Sometimes it drops. 750 Mbps, 120 Mbps. Or less. It does not matter if play on crowded multiplayer server or single player quick mission with empty sky. Router is on my computer desk 50 cm from where is use pico 4. Only pico 4 is connected to my router. It is a dedicated router just for VR. I would be thankful if i could get some help. Should i focus on my router for solving this problem or should i look elsewhere? Thanks

They have a list of routers on their Discord channel:

Anyone tried this yet? After a 3-month Il2 hiatus due to a change of country, I tried this today, and I'm very impressed. With Pico Connect (wired) set to AVC264 @ 3720x3720 & 250Mpbs, IL2 FC looks the best I've ever seen it look, and I still get 55-60 fps in cockpit with a 3080Ti. This configuration is now my go-to and noticeably better than VD; plus there aren't so many variables to play with as there are with VD (OXRTK is great but requires lots of experimentation and tweaking to find the sweet spot in my experience... Only downside is that XRNeckSafer doesn't work with SteamVR, but I can live with that. Thanks so much to all for posting this.
Charger_ Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 (edited) A new (BETA) update for Pico Connect has dropped with a reported increase in resolution. Which i have now installed and using Ultra HD and Video super resolution option on. And am pushing it to 4260x4260 with steam VR at 100%. Using a 4080 and getting about 60-70 FPS. I also have MSAA = 1 in the startup.cfg file. Over 5ghz wifi Thats resulting in a step up from VD Godlike and OpenXR. Cockpit details are very impressive. Somewhat of an improvement in aircraft ID but not much really. Ghosting still exists. But well worth the upgrade. Edited May 18, 2024 by Charger_ Done
w00dy Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 (edited) Where did you download the new Pico update from? I checked at the weekend and could not see it on the Pico website. Only 10.0.25 Beta is on the website. Edited May 20, 2024 by w00dy

Just got a USB3 cable installed and this pico connect update works awesome. running it at the default godlike resolution (3480x3480) with 2x MSAA and everything else pretty much maxed. Looks very sharp and very smooth with this cable and I still have a little more GPU headroom for more resolution it seems. Are you running AVC or HEVC? I can bump the AVC to 1000 Mbps and it brings the decode speed down, but I cant tell if its any better then HEVC at 150 Mbps. Also, has anyone messed around with the nvidia image sharpening in the control panel? You can change it to sharpening only w/o the image scaling and it gave me good results.. Charger_ Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 (edited) The Pico Connect app is now buggy for me. Lots of letterboxing around the edges and very laggy. In game FPS is still showing 70+ but the actual experience in the headset looks like its really 20fps. This is wireless and using USB. It also might be Steam VR related. Gone back to VD. This still works flawlessly, though i cant hit the high sharp resolution that i was getting in Pico Connect. Also the image isnt as pretty. Its noticeable. I gotta stop reading the Crystal Light thread. I wonder how much of an upgrade that would be? Edited June 19, 2024 by Charger_
w00dy Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 I've noticed it's now version 10.1.5 of Pico Connect on the Pico website now. https://www.picoxr.com/uk/software/pico-link Version:10.1.5 Date:2024-06-18 File Size:156MB What's New 1. Added the Ultra HD option, which supports gameplay streaming at 3K resolution. 2. Increased the AVC bitrate to a maximum of 1,000 Mbps. (Requires a USB 3.0 wired connection. The maximum bitrate for wireless connection is 300 Mbps.) 3. Added a controller adjustment function for SteamVR, which allows for adjustments to controller position and rotation. 4. Added a text sharpening function for desktop streaming for improved clarity in text browsing. 5. Added the function to quickly turn on virtual keyboard for desktop streaming. 6. Added "Minimize to System Tray" function. 7. Added "Launch at Startup" function. 8. Added a private connection mode. Once enabled, your PC can only be connected to headsets logged into the same account. 9. Optimized the log feedback function on the PC. 10. Fixed known issues. Note: Ultra HD and high bitrate can improve display quality but may affect system performance, leading to reduced battery life and potential system issues (lagging Dock bar, stuttering screen recording, increased latency in Motion Trackers). Please select the appropriate settings based on your needs.
VR_mechatronics Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I did it just from Meta Quest 3 Open facial interface and Fit 1:1 with Pico 4 Ultra, 180 degree View of Field on two "cable tie nylon".
