About the Bf109 ammo counter

So, I noticed that current Bf109 F-4 and G-2 has equipped with 500/100/500 ammo counters on the cockpit.

 

As you know, F-4 and G-2 are loaded with 200 rounds of 20mm cannon.

Since the middle one is only able to show 100 rounds, it cycles twice in current BoS game.

 

But is it the way that really worked in real life?

I mean, how about 500/500/500 variation just like in old IL-2 game?

This was discussed in another thread and the actual aircraft manual was quoted as saying the counter cycling twice is how it worked 

 

cant remember where, and this is only from memory.... maybe a search will dig up the thread
