CzechTexan Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 AERIAL ARTILLERY a Stuka campaign by CzechTexan "Aerial Artillery" is a 14-mission, single player, scripted campaign in which the pilot will fly the Ju 87D-3 STUKA in the Caucasus Mountains during the German struggle to take Tuapse from September-October 1942. The Stuka was heavily used as "aerial artillery" since the mountainous terrain was so difficult to deploy the usual heavy artillery. All missions have an objective target and when it is achieved then it will be a successful "Mission Accomplished" and the pilot continues to the next mission. A/I aircraft include: I-16, La-5 series8, P-40E, Bf 109G-2. DOWNLOAD: https://www.mediafire.com/file/xfr7fwsj0gp4kka/CT_AerialArtilleryCampaign.zip/file File order is: IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles > data > Campaigns > AerialArtillery Note for future Sim updates: Whenever Great Battles is updated, mission files get broken and must be updated, again and again. In order to fix the missions, open the IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor... in the TOOLS dropdown list, choose "Resave All Missions in Folder" and navigate to the missions folder in your computer. I must give a big THANK YOU to the Great Battles Team, fellow mission builders, and especially SYN_Vander and his Easy Mission Generator which makes things much easier. ENJOY! 5 12
CzechTexan Posted June 12, 2023 Author Posted June 12, 2023 (edited) I'm still new at making videos but here's one and more will come in the future. This video is from the mission "Tunnel 2" and shows that it is possible to bomb the train before it hides in the tunnel. If the train gets in the tunnel - it's too late and you'll fail the mission! I had lots of trial and errors in the testing of this mission but it was a lot of fun. I copied the train in and out of the tunnel from Jollyjack (I believe). After much trial and error I was able to get the timing just right so that the Stuka has barely enough time to bomb the train before the tunnel - that is, if you use the wing-over and dive straight down method (see video below). If you just nose down to a non-vertical dive then you might have more time. Either choice is yours - Enjoy the mission! Spoiler Edited June 13, 2023 by CzechTexan
Semor76 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Thanks for your work. But unfortunately I've seen that all missions are air start-based? Sorry, but this is a big no-go for me. It ruins all the immersion. I prefer cold start & taxi to runway, or at least start with engine running at the runway. Very sad, because IL-2 lack's a good Stuka/Bomber campaign. 1 1
CzechTexan Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 yes, I forgot to say that they are all airstart. I'll try to do more starting on the runway in the future. 2

Unlike you, I hate cold start and taxi to runway for campaigns, it is somekind of a show stopper usually, I do it few times to discover a new plane, but for campaigns, I'd prefer either takeoff or airstart

For me its more thrilling to take off and land than dog fighting sometimes. 1 1

Same taught here, anyway tks for the campaign In DCS I know how to edit to begin in cold start or hot at the runway, but I never worked with IL-2 GB mission editor. Vishnu Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Hey @CzechTexan I've tried this campaign twice and got the required objectives in the first mission and then returned to base. In both cases, I got a mission failed, and of course cannot proceed to the 2nd mission. Perhaps it's bugged since there have been further updates to the game. I love your stuff and was looking forward to playing this campaign.

I love your stuff and was looking forward to playing this campaign. This mission was one of my first when I started making them for Great Battles. I've learned a lot more since then. I have it as a single-player mission and I tested/flew it several times. The 4th time I destroyed the attacking I-16 + 2 IL-2 on the ground and got mission accomplished. 5th mission I destroyed 1 I-16 and 3 planes on the ground and got mission accomplished. Other stukas also do not do follow-up attacks when ordered to. Their problem is that the waypoint is set to HIGH instead of medium...so that can be changed... Open the mission in the Mission Editor, go to Player Flights, go to Lead Flight Axis, go to WP_3 AND change the Priority to MEDIUM. I might have to revisit my first-made campaigns to fix some problems and make them better. 1 1
Vishnu Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Problem solved! Make sure to hit those targets people! After trying several times, I got a success after hitting the required amount of targets. Thanks for the help Czech!
