Lag when recording a flight

A friend and I were flying in close formation yesterday and when he pressed Alt R to record he zoomed backwards.
When stopping the recording he zoomed back to the formation position.

Any ideas? I have a .trk but cannot post it here due 5Mb limit

I get the same. My machine runs the game fine FPS-wise, but net code goes to heck causing lots of rubber banding. It's really disruptive.
