They also depict type of object. I.e: Planes, tanks or artillery. You can configure the game to have always the same colour to a certain side or to have allies as red or blue in Ingame options - Flight Interface. Kinds regards,
FlyinCoffin Posted June 3, 2023 Author Posted June 3, 2023 thank you I already know what I meant is the the drawn symbols on the map who are static. like artillery and tanks.
Zooropa_Fly Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 They're targets. Red = enemy and blue =friendly. If it's a moveable target (vehicles / trains etc.) their actual position could be anywhere on the road / track denoted by the symbol. S!

The diamond is a command post. The arrow is advancing armor/infantry. The lines (1519.2) is artillery positions. The lines with arrow tails are rocket artillery. I'm probably totally wrong but, now that you asked, I'm curious to know too.

Yogiflight Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 2 hours ago, FlyinCoffin said: you got a resource for that? Artillery position and AT gun position are used that way in NATO troops, the diamond sign is used with lines along the left and right side as tank symbol and the arrow is the NATO symbol for a machinegun. The half circles are used as firing position symbol. The symbol you can see over the 'r' of Andreevskoe in square 1519 2 is the symbol for light AA guns, in game used for all AAA, light, medium and heavy. 1 2

czech693 Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 What are the solid red triangles? Also, I'm seen small black retangles that I thought might be balloon positions in FC but there is never anything there.
Dusty_Steppes Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 This might help... Handbook on USSR Military Forces, Chapter XII: Maps, Conventional Sign, and Symbols (unl.edu) 1
czech693 Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) This is what I'm talking about. Well, I found an partial answer. The black retangles are defining the four corners of an equal sided box. Not sure what the box represents as the blue hue circle is within it but doesn't extend to the edges. The red triangles appear to only be in the FC maps. Edited June 13, 2023 by czech693 new info
czech693 Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Figured out that the solid red triangles are military camps with lots of tents in orderly rows.
