FC1 10 aircraft... FC2 10 aircraft... why is it FC3 has only 8 aircraft, and FC4 only 6 aircraft?

Perhaps I have missed something that was in another post about missing planes?

For the next update could you please allow the Escape (menu) function to be addressable by a controller. Many of us fly in VR and can't access a keyboard to reach the menu. Latest version of Joytokey no longer uses Esc as a command - you get Windows search menu when Esc is pressed.

I used to love to fly the Halberstadt D.II in Rise of Flight! I'm looking forward to the release of Flying Circus Vol.III too!

Flying Circus Vol.III will likely be the best one yet! Especially given the quirks and diversity of flight characteristic in the 1916-1917 era (relative to later modules).

 

Any news if we will get updated field mods for any of them? The F.E.2b could really do with something. That said, I'd be quite interested if any information has been turned up on the twin gun Halberstadt field mod (I gather it would have been mounted on the same side but lower - a bit like the Nieuport N.28)?

 

It'd also be really neat to get a Hanriot HD.1 (early) with the gun mounted to the side to improve forward visibility! Or the twin-gun field mod?

 

I think additions beyond what is offered in Rise of Flight would encourage upgrading, and some of these variants might also be feasible as Collector Planes (e.g. an Italian H.D.1). Anyway, I'm excited to see the progress and looking forward to pre-ordering.

From previous Dev updates, it sounds like 'FC4' will be just six Collector aircraft.

 

I kind-of hope that FC3 having only 8 aircraft is due to a decision to offer a premium version with two completely new aircraft (Slower early war two-seaters would be ideal... but I suspect something like an Airco DH.5 would be more likely?)

 

That said, it might also be that they decided to increase the effective price per plane to compensate for less sales, as the WWI audience is smaller? That would be less exciting. However, I do want the WWI aircraft to be profitable enough to encourage more collector planes (or a proper FC.IV with a channel map and the floatplanes/seaplanes we had in Rise of Flight). There are definitely enough notable WWI aircraft out there to make a fourth module very entertaining. So I don't mind paying a little bit more if it comes to it.

At this point, you can expect that the same mods added to the Rise of Flight model will be the same ones available here. But, I will of course ask once these planes get closer to being released.

Thanks! I know that the Airco D.H.2 got essentially no field mods back in the day - so hopefully we can plant the seeds of the idea... But yes, I know I shouldn't expect anything!

 

It is still nice to daydream sometimes though.

 

By the way - we did get the additional Lewis gun on the Handley-Page O/400 for use with sighting the Davis gun.... so there is precedent for something new being added to something old. I really don't expect any new field mods or collector planes - but it is nice to know that it is at least within the realm of the imaginable.

Yeah, it has some really interesting handling characteristics with some neat tricks to flying it. A nice view too. I really like how distinctive these aircraft will be.

Try JoystickGremlin. It does everything Joy2key could do and more. 
 

I also fly in VR and used JG to map ESC to a button on my Razer Tartarus.

It is worth it. It seems less exciting, with less variation in armament etc. But the handling characteristics of the planes are so diverse that it really is a unique experience to fly and fight in each one. Some of them have manoeuvres that are even impossible in other aircraft! So it is a big world to explore.

Nice to see the Halbie and N11, used to love the D.II in Rise of Flight... aside from my rather dubious landing performance in it, that specific plane bounds worse than anything else I have tried.

 

I have to mention though, the Nieuport 11's propeller seems a bit too large... the machine guns appear to be firing from within the propeller arc, which kinda defeats the purpose of that mounting scheme or am I missing something?

I'm guessing the FC3 early access will begin when the N11 and Halb D2 are released? Can't be long now.

Of course to be useful for 1916-1917 mission-wise, we'll need appropriate 2-seaters as well (with Recon mechanics fully usable in MP).

So hope to see the Fe2b and Re8 soon, then N17 and Alb DII.

This isn't a major issue but I am unable to fly the race to qualify for the gift because my ping exceeds the 400 limit on those servers. Being in Australia on the other side of the world. It would be good if you could increase maybe one of the servers to max ping of 500. Of the 50 servers on the combat side I am only within the ping limit of around 10 of the closer ones.

When I got into VR I was keeping my fingers crossed RoF would be converted. Not surprised we’re now paying more I Looks like they’re getting to the point where all the aircraft will be covered.  Maybe that’s why the number of featured aircraft is getting smaller. They’re running out of aircraft to convert?
