Gunfreak Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 This is a new thing, I've never had this, but it started some time ago. even though the FPS is 50-60fps even in combat, it feels like I'm flying with 15-20fps, very choppy, so much so that trying to orient yourself and seeing enemies becomes impossibe. I have an i9 9900k @5ghz 64gig ram and 3090. I tried using open composite. but it didn't work(that might have been when the problems started) I went back it steam vr, no diffrence, I've done a complete uninstall, with folders deleted. But it's still the same. 50-60fps, yet it feels like 15. Neither DCS or Clod VR beta has this problem(DCS using open composite and Clod beta using steam VR)
Guest Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Put the clouds on their lowest setting for starters, the different levels do nothing in VR.
dgiatr Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 If you play in single player then there is a known issue if there are many Ai's near you which cause stuttering without many fps losses.

spreckair Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I had a similar problem some time ago. Performance was fine in BOM and BOS, but when I started flying in BOK and the number of aircraft increased, I saw a significant drop in visuals, like flying through water. My fix was to up my CPU from an I-7 11700K to an I-7 13700K (which also meant a new motherboard). This solved the problem for me, for now.
Voyager Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 What VR headset are you using? Have you checked the live frame times and historgrams using fpsVR or similar? That could tell you if you're actually stable at 60fps of if you've got something stomping through every 5th frame.
blitze Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Using AMD CPUś if you run it via SteamVR - look at your power plan. SteamVR kicks you up into Windows High Performance Power Plan which is not optimal. I use Power Plan Switcher to put it down into Ryzen Balanced which helps my system. That is with 32 planes or so in the air in the same area.

What you describe is likely this:
chiliwili69 Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 please, as said, let us know what VR device you use and also report fpsVR CPU&GPU frametimes while you are playing. Try also to put "Vsync OFF" in your NVidia panel. 1
