Of course the optimum solution would be that the climb curve follows both the low and the high altitude climb characteristics up to the ceiling. However, it looks like to me that doing both seems difficult but the up to 6 km should be OK if one accepts that the ceiling values would be a bit over the top. But you mention up to about 5 km in MP is about as high as it gets so maybe tuning up to 6 km and accepting high ceilings would be OK all the same? In addition, it's not like over 6 km would be bad, just that the error would begin to increase over 6 km but the deviations should be quite acceptable even to 7 km and a bit beyond.

6 km modeling should be plenty imo. Patrolling at 5-5.5 km can occur on both sides but its pretty rare for Ententes (with our uncompressed 200hp Hissos!)

The over-compressed German aircraft sometimes climb a little higher to achieve an Alt advantage against a high patrol but that's mostly posturing to force a threat to retreat.

Yes, but posturing has always been a huge part of (psychological) warfare over the ages. If you can bring a bunch of overcompressed D.VIIs 1000m meters higher over the enemy lines than any SE5a can climb to, you're going to seriously demotivate the Entente flyers below, even if it's not an automatic win if the Fokkers do decide to come down and engage.

Actual instances of dogfighting (while a lot of fun) are a bit exaggerated in multiplayer.

Lol. Legit tactic of course.

Still, I chose the word deliberately :?

You're quite the expert on that.

I wonder how good you are at posturing in game though
