Why is it when getting into a combat situation does the motor die? No, wasn't shot up, just quits. Over-revving? Been running at 85% fuel. Seems to quit during maneuvering.

Thanks,

Fuel mix is fine unless you're high up.

You can kill it over speeding in a dive, and these days it's not advisable to fly at 100% throttle all the time.

You haven't got something mapped inadvertently holding down the blip switch per chance..?

Over Rev  the engine Bob.  Very easy to do in the Camel.  Blip or otherwise reduce RPM in dives. Try to keep RPM below 15.5

85 is ok for on the deck, lean it out as you gain alt.

No, the "Blip" button is all by itself. Just now learning this critter, would running the throttle lower help? Of course, learning how to properly fly the thing would be best.

"The plane deserves a better pilot" type deal.  ?

Yes, reduce throttle to reduce RPM.   I fry the engine more that I like to admit.  Usually when Im looking around for other planes.

Cringe. Never use that word again Bob in relation to the most majestic of crates. Dr1 yeah ok, acceptable. But the Camel, well she is a gloriously high spirited filly well worth investing meaningful time in learning how to caress the lady to your will. Well worth it, and once subdued, you will find her the most enjoyable of experiences. And even more sublime since the butterfly wings fix.

But yes, watch the revs.

Good basic rule is Stick forward = Throttle back, one eye on the rev-counter, blip in a steep dive... and then modify as-needed.

I meant no offence, by using the term critter. I would imagine it has a different meaning where you are from as to mine.

I will agree as to her being a high-spirited filly, I have been on more than one "Rodeo ride," and always at the most inopportune time.

I don't like flying against it, I don't last long. Of course, if I'm flying it, I don't last long either. BUT that is a pilot problem and I'm working to change that.

I have noticed that it's taking a little longer to get shot down, and I will take that as a good sign?
