Happy Memorial Day LukeFF and all Americans whom celebrate the day! Never forget the price of Freedom! Our fallen soldiers paid the cost for our Freedom with their lives. Salute to all currently serving and all Veterans also!

Left Saigon in March, 1973, the day before the last American troops officially left.  No war stories.  Got on a charter civilian jet and flew to Bangkok.  Completed a long tour there then returned to the US.  Completed my 4 year commitment and then went to Law School.  Joined the Texas Army National Guard and finished my 20 years.  An unreal time.

 

God bless those who served and died in Vietnam including a high school classmate of mine.

I was stationed at Cat Lai, Vietnam for 18 months. Twenty miles east of Saigon along the Dong Nai River where ammunition was off loaded onto barges and towed to units in III and IV Corps (southern half of country). Served on PBRs and LCMs patrolling the rivers and moving troops and equipment. After a year at Ft Sill, OK artillery training center went back for another year in Army HQ, Long Binh. While at USARV HQ I worked for the Adjutant General Casualty Reporting Office compiling reports for notification officers at home to provide to families explaining circumstances and details of service member's death. That's where I learned to drink.
