I have a brand new rig coming in the mail Thursday, I do not own a VR Headset, and would really like some input before I drop $300-$500 on a headset.

The specs are
Intel I7-12700
RTX 3060
32GB Ram

Should this play IL-2 in VR well? Is there anywhere I can test this BEFORE buying the headset? I am not sure if I would play in VR competitively, But I have always wanted to play in VR just for fun so 120 FPS is not necessary, I think I would be happy at 60fps. Same with Ultra settings. Just to look decent/ For fun.

For IL-2 you should be fine.

I would have a good look around the forum and especially at the VR benchmark thread if you don’t get a solid answer here.

Not sure the 3060 really has the power for VR in anything but a basic form but I could be very wrong.

You can use that setup for VR but the experience will depend on your headset and what performance-quality compromises you can tolerate. The 3060 is now the entry level for most VR games. With a rift s and medium settings you should be able to get 40 FPS with reprojection to 80 in most situations. With a higher resolution headset such as the Pico 4 then you would need to run it at a lower res and rely on significant reprojection from the headset using virtual desktop.

Don't know if this will help.  I have a 12600k, 3060ti, 32 GB RAM and a HP G2, ver. 2.  I can run Il2 fully maxed out and get around 40-42 FPS with no reprojection.
