ttkeser Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 (edited) I will have a question, I bought the game from steam, but my nephew uses steam offline, I wonder if Il2 downloaded the game from the orginal launcher, I entered my account, but kuban and stalingrad are locked, nor can I enter the quick mission and scenario side. AEthelraedUnraed Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 If you've bought the game from Steam, you should also start the game from Steam. IL2 doesn't have access to your Steam purchases, so if you start from IL-2.exe the game won't know you bought Stalingrad. You should be able to run IL2 offline just fine, although if you're offline during the loading screen, you won't be able to play Careers.
ttkeser Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 so the steam link doesn't work. It is only necessary to enter the game from steam, then if something happens to the steam account, we will not be able to access the game, so why do we register then?

Just like normal, if you lose access to your steam account, you lose access to the titles on the steam account. Linking your steam account allows you to have a username that isn't Player-#### on your account, and also sync any website purchases onto the steam client. For content bought on steam, the website doesn't track your purchase, so anything you bought stays there. For example, I own everything on the website except Battle of Stalingrad, the La-5, and Fw-190 A-3. So, when I use the website launcher I have everything but those; when launched with steam, I have everything. It didn't always work this way, originally you'd get a CD key from steam and have to register it on the website under your account to activate it. iirc, you could also use either launcher to play the game. Then, some Steam policies changed around the time Battle of Kuban was in development, and we got the system we have now. It isn't too bad once you set it up, and understand how it works. Although, there isn't really anything for new folks to know how it works when they first get into the game unfortunately.
