Additional AI Vehicle Mod Packages

This project has been 16 weeks in the making, but is finally ready for its initial release.

 

Credits:
Portions of this package include (with permission) artwork derived from freeware mods previously published by DetCord12B, MarcoPegase44, JV44HeinzBar, and a mission by Saldy. In some cases their original files may have been modified by enlarging them using Gigapixel AI, and/or adjusting the brightness/saturation/contrast to remix how they look in game. The original authors retain full control, and publication rights over their artwork.

AI - Expansion Vehicles

The intention of these Mod packages is to create a comprehensive mod with new AI vehicle and equipment variations to expand what's available for Mission Builders to select from.

AI - Expansion Vehicles -All was the all in one package I used for development. It already includes the Luascript Patch, and Player Skins. It does not include the optional Trucks with No Crosses and AAA mods listed below. Warning it's 4GB!

Each includes its own color scheme specific Parade Mission, and a visual index of the overall collection to help mission developers know what the new options are. For example they can publish a mission that stays within one color scheme (common look across all vehicle types within the same unit), or they can mix-and-match schemes by accessing multiple packs. The included GUI image folder let's the mission developer preview a real picture of each one in the vehicle type selector.

 

Since you can leave these installed with, or without mods enabled and the mission will still run it would be best to leave all the different sets installed (as if it were part of the base game) just to cover any future missions that might be produced that call any part of these out. 

 

++ Also includes Custom version of Saldy's Mission LSSAH - Ride To Hell, and matching skins for the user playable _PzIII-M, _PzIV-G, _PzV-D, _PzVI-H1, _Sdkfz184, and _StuGIII-G. The custom skin naming format is PzIIIM-XX, PzIVG-XX, PZVD-XX, PzVIH1-XX, SdKfz184-XX, and StuGIIIG-XX, where XX is the appropriate color scheme code letters.

 

*** If the mission calls for one of these new vehicles, and you don't have it installed first it will typically just crash out with a luascript error! ***

 

If you prefer the Ford and Opel trucks not to have crosses on their doors you can install this mod after the ones above. Looks like a great set, great to see em released. Do kinda wish you'd dropped the crosses from the doors of the trucks though.

Sorry to say, I've had a quality escape that requires a patch to fix (see first post for the link).  I noticed that some of the New AI vehicles were impossible to kill. It turns out that I had a recurring typo in 129 of the text files caused by the automation I was using to speed up editing.

I also forgot to provide the destroyed version of the trucks with no crosses, but they are now included in their own zip file (see first post for the link).

As far as I can tell, there was no loss of compatibility with today's 5.104 update.

This is now a small extension of Stonhouse's AAA made to cover the vehicles included in the AI Expansion Mods listed in the first post.

 

It increases the responsiveness of the AAA gunner bots to match what his mod does to the base game AI AAA vehicles. The file structure is compatible with JSGME. This assumes you have the JSGME Mods folder installed inside your 1C Game Studios directory next to the IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles folder. If JSGME is installed somewhere else then you will have to change the folder structure to match.

 

It is based on his AAA.zip published on 8 May 2023. The filenames are mostly new and unique to the various vehicle names in the AI Expansion mods, but some are a match with those in AAA.zip, so you will get a JSGME warning about the overwrite if you are using both his mod and this one together. Installing this mod first, and then his, is the safest way to preserve any updates he may publish in the future.

 

With his permission, I have included a modified version of JoyllyJack's Defense of Pokhorovka that increases the interplay between the AAA and the aircraft attacking the jumping off point. This is intended to let you easily experience the net effect of having just the base game bots, versus having the more aggressive ones in this mod installed. Play the scenario, then activate this mod and run it again. You should see the network of AAA sites team up more often, and the skies will be cleared of attacking aircraft somewhat faster. BE WARNED, this mission includes unlimited ammo, and indestructible AAA vehicles / Player Platoon to let the battle play out without the ground units getting wiped out right away. If you want to play this scenario without those built in advantages you will have to edit the mission to restore their destructibility.

The Luascript Patch file has been updated with four txt files for the Ambush version of the Opel trucks. (see link above in original post)

I've decided that it might be better for some users to just have everything in one package (see original post).
