lwalter Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 (edited) Today I was comparing the town of Amiens in both WWII Normandy and WWI Western Front map. Besides the cathedral, which looks similar in both maps, the rest of the town show big differences. I understand that the town layout was a bit different between these 2 periods of time, but some buildings and city features should have been the same: the Amiens citadel or the "hortillonages" (a network of water ways and garden islands). Actually, each map has only 1 of these 2 features. How come there's so much differences between these 2 maps for the overlapping areas (and again, I'm not talking about WWI vs WWII differences)? Maybe the simple fact that both maps where not created by the same team?
